New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

As ever, an informative and thought provoking read from The Esk: https://theesk.org/2019/06/28/world...to-say-what-we-all-mean-and-mean-what-we-say/
To be honest Dave having read that piece it seems to me that in spite of saying a lot he actually said very little.
The WHS issue was mentioned almost from the very first time BMD was suggested as a possible location for a new ground.
In the meantime a lot of money has been spent by the club and is currently being spent by the City getting the infrastructure ready for a possible new development.
I believe that talks between City/Club/Unesco will have been ongoing and the repeated suggestion that the new ground will reflect the heritage of the site is an indicator that this project as it has moved forward has brought all interested parties along.

I don't know this, but it makes sense and I have not seen anything from any credible "in the know" source to say different.

A generic shape. Big deal.

I have given your other post from last night some thought though: the one where you imply that UNESCOs report is timed to coincide with the consultation. Now that could be useful for the club in terms of disciplining the fans to curb their clamour for a stadium beyond the 52,000 figure they're planning on capacity....

Dave essentially all stadiums are a generic shape they have to be to enclose a rectangular playing area. I think what you should be looking to or mean is the outward appearance.

But there is more design work in formulating that 'basic shape' than there is in the majority of visible portions of a stadium.

I never implied anything Dave, I simply offered another angle. I certainly didn't expect you to turn it into a theory on UNESCO being in cahoots with the club to dampen the fans expectations.

It doesn't come across like that to me. It looks like they are out of step with each other.

As for the Esk article: his main point is that if the retention of WHS is increasingly being questioned in terms of its value to the city by LCC and various other organisations tasked with driving on the city's development, then the club should not feel they have to restrict themselves to a capacity of 52,000.

But until that question over how the WHS is settled we're in a sort of limbo.

It'll certainly be interesting to see the next consultation phase and how the club positions itself in relation to WHS. It might actually help those at the club arguing for a conservative build which can save cash (in the short term, at least).

He deals with the issues of the day facing Everton and the big decisions needed.

His questioning of the calibre and decision making of the hierarchy at Everton should be applauded because, after all, they are a complete set of spanners.

No, not in cahoots. Just happenstance.

If the club choose to do so they can point to the WHS concerns as a guidance for supporters on realistic capacity and nature of build.

In either case, there's been nothing specific.

I doubt anyone after almost 3 years of talk on this stadium design could be confident they know what the hell it'll look like.

Now, as the ESk says, the absence of a 'reveal' could be boxing clever in terms of handing no other party ammunition to shoot it down early in the process. However, they need at some stage to release some design images - the club need to recognise they cant keep this tease up for much longer.
