New Everton Stadium Discussion

It's the perfect number for our capacity. The one thing that disappoints me about the new gaff. The rest is stunning.
I was with you on wanting 61,878 just because of the nod to our founding year.
Now I'm fine with the proposed capacity and hope to see it packed to the rafters.
65,000 stadiums are great BUT despite some people saying we would fill it, none of us can forsee the future. In spite of it being a 'golden era' for us, in the eighties attendances plummeted (not just Everton but ALL clubs) This of course was to do with the cost of living and a sharp decrease in 'disposable' income.
Who knows what the economy will be like 10 or 20 years from now? 🤷‍♂️
80'saverage attendances
1980-81 26,105
1981-82 24,674
1982-83 20,277
1983-84 19,343
1984-85 31,984
1985-86 32,227
1986-87 32,935
1987-88 27,771
1988-89 27,765
1989-90 26,820

Loads of members and people on waiting lists won't go they like the idea of it but giving up every weekend and spending a grand is a big commitment when it comes to the crunch loads of people just won't do it.

A lot of people would have been on there to try and get a ST for the last at Goodison and/or the first at BM. Once those seasons have been consigned to history those numbers will drop quickly.

I reckon the waiting list got cut by 20k just in the last half an hour once it was confirmed Ashley Young had been offered another deal lol

Average 32k in the most successful season in our history!!!
Just shows how squeezed household incomes must have been.

God bless.

Pointless bringing up crowds of yesteryear be they small or huge. Fact is football is more popular than ever. Any comparisons are useless. I think we might have gone a bit bigger, but it's not the be and end all for me, maybe because I'm guaranteed a season ticket. One thing I do wonder, if we sell out every league game will our average attendance be the best in our history?

Yes.
"The highest ever season average attendance at Everton was in 1963 with 51,603, the best of any club in that particular season."

These were "average" 😉by the stadium announcers "official"😉 statement 🤷‍♂️

I mean we did have some low bars like, but mid 80s onwards Street End was rammed every week, can't speak for other stands in this time frame but rarely thought it looked half empty!

The only modern day stadium I see with empty seats in City's apart from that attendance seems to be pretty good in the Prem. Defo think we could have filled a 60k stadium but that's the only downside, the stadium is a thing of pure beauty.
