New Everton Stadium Discussion

Just catching up and from what I remember......

King's Dock was just a CGI and a discussion about the parcel of land. Don't recall anything else ever being public.

For Kirkby @davek is right, there was a lot of documentation, you can't have the government and barristers getting involved without it.
For the stadium itself, although a shocking design, it was large. I remember viewing the floor plans which were available and recall large parts of the stadium being left empty for possible future use as a museum, shop etc. There was very little imagination. There were also mock ups from Kirkby town centre etc.
Therev were also other documents, environmental impact, retail impact, transport strategy etc. Ultimately it was never going to be passed as there was just too many obstacles to overcome, notably a desperate transport plan, a detrimental effect to neighbouring Liverpool shopping centres (due to departure from the regional framework) and very direct questions about funding (including who would benefit from a future sale of the club).

I don't think this scheme compares with either of the above. There seems to be a real will from stakeholders to see this through and there's no real opposition.

Haha I seem to recall part of the transport strategy come to think of it, seem to remember it being laughed out of the hearing. Wasn't it up to five or ten thousand fans would have to ride up on bicycles ? Never bought a bike like on the strength of that. Dark times in our history, thank god for KEIOC.

Dave, the previous schemes were barely pipe dreams that went about as far as a few mock up designs. You can’t seriously tell me this time doesn’t feel different. The way we’re going about things is much more professional, not to mention our owner has a multi billionaire best mate and business partner. Oh and there’s the full scale public consultation and the thousands of pages of documents that have gone into the planning permission.

I mean come on, I can maybe understand your lack of faith in them getting it over the line but surely you know this is different to the previous attempts? It’s not even comparable to me.
DK had PP + funding model in place + public and private partners + land preparation + compulsory purchases made. It got to the very last stage in the process before diggers were on site. It was knocked back by the decision of one man. Another man in another government months later would have said yes.

THAT'S how close we were with a Kirkby stadium. Compare that to where we are right now.

Only thing im not too keen on with Spurs.

Everything else is absolutely fantastic, facilities, seating, the lot.

NWHL's location isn't anything special either like. Similar to lot of grounds, really, though not necessarily awful.

BMD is quite exceptional as a location for a stadium, so I suppose there's no comparison really.

I'd have had no issue staying where are in terms of location. yeah the docks are a fantastic place but would have had no issue with staying at a newly built Goodison

Bet Spurs fans are fairly content with that too. Routine isn't disrupted but new shiny stadium in the same place.

London and Liverpool are different ball games anyway.

Hold on you can't say that, it was not the club but the respective owners/management which have been different. We are now in a position with the current owner/management where something is actually proceeding, a very different ball game to the previous decades to which you refer.

Your phrasing should have read:-

Plans drawn up - submitted for PP -PP given - funds realised - work commenced,

One way you are not looking at it is, if the owner/management were not serious why go to the enormous expense of such detailed plans being drawn up and submitted for PP which must must already cost a heck of a lot.
It happened with Kirkby and we had a lot less money back then.

It amounts to less than the fee of one of Brands' horrendous signings.

How convenient. Not denying Kirby went that far but I definitely don’t recall the extent of documentation for KD we’re currently seeing for BMD.
There was. Absolute mountains of it. Anyone here half-way familiar with the Kirkby project will tell you the same.

It's not that funny is it really.

He gets banned, comes back instantly starts his wummery completely derailing thread(s). Mods do nothing about him once again, even after the thread @GrandOldTeam made.
It's a diference of opinion mate on a very important issue.

Your position: you want it done, you're happy accepting that the scheme is on track and the club can be trusted on delivering.
My position: I want it it done, but I'm saying the process is still a huge punt, and I dont trust the club on anything they say regarding the stadium due to previous.

For you, any deviation from the Pravda line amounts to "wummery".
