New Everton Stadium Discussion

Can someone please explain to this absolute WOOL what a "Metro Mayor" is please? Anderson is City Mayor, so is this Rotheram fella Mayor of a wider area? Is he in affect Anderson's superior?
He's Mayor for Liverpool City Region. Here he is busy being Mayor in one of his typical days in this august office:

Don't forget the wider picture. The financial future is uncertain because of Brexit. Many companies have stopped investment in new projects because of potential unpredictably in trading after Brexit. Just take steel, for example. A stadium uses a lot of steel. Scunthorpe receives about 20,000 tonnes of iron ore a day, and a similar amount of coal. Both raw materials come from a mix of countries, Poland, Russia, US, Canada, Brazil and other South American countries, with whom we have trade agreements through the EU until Brexit. If no deal, no trade agreements - what then?

The steelworks are already hit by US trade sanctions, with British Steel losing 500 jobs with many, I would think, at Scunthorpe.

Who, in their right mind, would be going ahead with the build of a large stadium at this time when financing will be particularly difficult and the future so uncertain. I would wait for the situation to be come clearer.
By "wider picture", I assume you meant to type "the most negative slant that can possiby be put on it"

Get a grip. It's really not controversial to suggest that incorporating a homeless shelter into a new stadium in an area that is earmarked for regeneration is a bad idea. What's wrong with adding to the already existent homeless provision in another part of town?
It creates ghettoes. Perth, like any other city in the world, has suburbs of affluence and suburbs of poverty. However the difference here is that the 2 most affluent suburbs in the city with an average house price in the millions, also have state owned housing for those living in poverty. Most of the poorer suburbs also have pockets of wealth. The millionaires would no doubt prefer not to have "those types" in their beautiful suburbs, but by having them throughout different suburbs rather than concentrated into a few small parts of the city, we don't have any no-go areas

Anderson is Mayor of Liverpool, which is governed by Liverpool City Council. Rotheram is Metro Mayor of Liverpool City region, which covers the boroughs of: Liverpool, Sefton, Knowsley and Wirral.

I dont think anyine would have a problem with affordable or council housing initiatives within the regeneration, and that type of thing really would look good in a planning application. But having shelters and needle exchanges for the street homeless are a different kettle of fish, and there's just no sane reason to move such services from the city centre and into the BMD regeneration area.

The way planning regs work now, there will have to be a certain percentage of any newly built dwellings that in the very least have to be affordable or housing trust accomodation

Why are people suggesting facilitating the homeless into an area utilising upmarket regeneration never mind a stadium.

The club are doing tremendous work around our current site to help homeless, the owner of signature living has opened a shelter which looks amazing and teaching them new skills to get back on their feet.

Some people just try to come across all mother theresa without any realistic view point.

Read the article and the quotes of the Metro mayor
He’s the one that said it and mentioned the homeless and planning applications , so he either pulled the information out of his backside or the club told him
