I look at someone like Nuno and I think he's hit his peak or close to it, and that might be fine if it means he's getting us back into that 6th/7th range consistently, but Potter seems to have no fortune in his finishes right now and his peak might be higher. I just like that better. Signing someone who is possibly trending up.

Also it'll be somewhat watchable I think which would be nice.
Chris Hughton did just as well with Brighton didnt he? What's he up to?

Potter took over the Swedish team Østersund in 4 division, and spent 4 years leading them up to the top division. In the debut season, they came in 8th place, and eventually they won the Swedish Cup. He then led them to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League. Østersund had a rather limited budget compared to their competitors. It was a fantastic achievement.
Yes, I gave the tl;dr version but this is the longer way of showing he is not a retread.

The news of Carlo supposedly having a clause in his contract to leave for big club's makes me wary of having another big name manager. I doubt any would consider us without having one inserted and would just take the fat wage and leave as soon as a ESL club came calling.

Give me a manager with something to prove and willing to grow with the club, not ditch it as soon as something more appealing comes along

Don't see him mentioned much but I quite like the look of Paulo Fonseca. Won quite a few trophies and looks a bit of a team builder.

Anyone is a gamble though either way.
I championed him back before we eventually appointed Silva. Thought the team he built at Shakhtar was great.

Didn't pull up any trees at Roma though.

Well said. No more foreign wondermen with CL medals.
