New European super league

The European super league is not gonna happen, I think that once the Europa League 2 comes into effect in 21-22 season, we will see the top European countries getting more champions league places and the lower ranked counties having to go through more qualification so at the moment; Spain, Germany, England and Italy all get 4 places. I think this will go up to 5 places, which will mean 20 out of the 32 teams will come from these 4 nations
The problem is this arrangement will only satisfy the greed for so long. And if a club like United or Milan were to fall below the qualification thresholds still they would go back to the argument of them having a divine right to be in or whatever it was they argued. The hunger for more riches will eventually win out.

no way those clubs are going to jeopardize their premier league tv revenue

look at the european rugby cup.
they reformatted it under pressure from the english and french clubs and the revenues in the competition have actually gone down!
If the new revenue stream was better then club directors would raise two very grubby fingers in our direction I am afraid. Said it before, we are now the soundtrack to a tv show.

You are right. Brands will outweigh performance. Decisions will be made by the marketing dept.

I think so too, Fifa have also decided that the World Club Championship will be expanded to 24 teams, 8 of the teams will come from europe. At the moment the chairmen are saying its too many games. But fifa are offering £50m to each team that enters. I think most of the chairmen would happily field the u23s in the FA Cup and league Cup for that kind of money and global exposure

Personally I think football has become incredibly boring, this has been one the worst seasons if not the worse season I can remember. Yes it was an exciting finale, but when you think about it it has been mostly rubbish. City and Liverpool were miles ahead of the other teams, the RS in terms of luck, City in terms of class. Chelsea have been rubbish, yet they have still somehow managed to finish in the top 4. United players got their manager sacked, Arsenal are a very average side whose players simply turn up when they want to.
The problem is that City inflated transfer fees, which creates the illusion the quality of football has improved. Average players are being bought for huge fees, we bought Lukaku for 28 million around the same fee as Tosun, they're not even in the same league. Also the tribal nature of football has been ruined by huge amounts of foreigners supporting teams like United, Liverpool, Bayern, PSG, Barca, Real Madrid and Juventus, which means clubs like us can't possibly compete in terms of things like shirt sales and far east tours. Barca pretty much gave Liverpool that game with their unprofessional behaviour, Dembele passing at Allison in 93rd minute at the Nou Camp cost them. They wasted countless chances with their messing around at Anfield, the problem is players are just paid too much, when somebody like Rodwell is on £70 000 at Sunderland you realise there is a problem in football.

Basically the FIFA executives have realized they'll never be as rich as the UEFA executives if they don't find a way to get a slice of the club game for themselves. Sickening.

The league races were utter garbage this year with the possible exception of Germany but even that has been in Bayern's hands since they slammed Dortmund 5-0. The Premier League wasn't exciting except maybe for 20 minutes for City against Leicester. Other than that they had the initiative since we took points off the RS and never came close to losing it.

I would say that it would be better to first make some regional leagues if they want to compete with Premier League's tv revenues. Would it be to weird if Spanish and Portuguese leagues merge?

On the other side, you can retain some national big 5 leagues by just moving few teams to another league (like best Welsh clubs did). Imagine if PSG joined PL. French league could use some leveling.

Wouldn't a French-Bundesliga merger make more sense?

Agreed in general on the league races but TBF the Premier League was a very exciting race - yes, not the “back and forth” the fixtures had you believe as City were ahead since March, but one slip up by either could’ve meant the title and every game was key

I'm not sure about, ours was great really, maybe not for us, until it ended. 2 teams having to go perfect over the last 10 or so games, well almost perfect apart from Goodison haha but neither could give up points, it's was crazy.
In fact it was perfect, if Liverpool fell away, it wouldn't be the same, but to keep getting results like that, both sides, wow

Of course it was only one City slip up away but when was it ever seriously in doubt aside from Leicester? Maybe stoppage time at Burnley but that's it. An hour total of drama over 3 months isn't a dramatic title race in my book. Especially when the lead never truly changed hands.

Honestly, neither PSG joining English PL nor French-German league makes to much sense. I think it would be more sensible if UEFA invests in some regional leagues made of smaller leagues (Two Irish + Welsh league, Baltic countries, one of the milion Balkanian permutations) in order to alleviate qualificational rounds for CL and EL (now also EL2 from the next cycle).
