What I came into post.

If we had a Roy Keane or (I hate to say this) a Gerrard with the armband, they'd have run over to Mirallas, grabbed the ball, passed it to Baines and told Mirallas to go fk himself. Jags is a complete fanny.

This. For all the faults, he could at least show some mettle. You don't forget the reducer (and fine tackle) to stick Ronanldo in his place. That's what's needed.

I agree, and this isn't a compliment to Neville who is/was a nobhead and bad captain, but Neville wouldn't have let that happen with Mirallas earlier.

I don't think Jagielka can be blamed for the penalty debacle, he had no reason to think anyone but Baines would be taking it.. why would anyone have the audacity to take the ball from him with his 15/16 penalty record? He was sorting his boots out and probably expecting to look up just in time to see Baines slot it.
