New bands for me to listen to

It's good, but recent radiohead to me has been like touring a very large house. Once you've seen the first few rooms, the rest all look more or less the same. I like it and it's probably better than TKOL (although not as "optimistic"), but it's hard for me to digest. It definitely fills out my "all radiohead" playlist on shuffle, but I don't know what to think when I sit and listen through it front to back.

I heard a lot of adjectives such as "honest", "orchestral" and "most emotional/raw album" and was a little put off, assuming it may be the case that it is samey. I'll reserve judgment until I have listened properly, but for me a great radiohead album is about variety and having twists/turns - agree with you that TKOL didn't really have that (despite its supposed ambition, it left me feeling underwhelmed), and it's disappointing that you think this album follows suit in that regard.

Are you enjoying the album mate?

Despite being a relatively big radiohead fan, I haven't even given it a listen yet - mostly because I use spotify and it's still not available. Frustrating. I'd pay for it separate but I begrudge it when I pay £10p/m for Spotify and it will probably turn up on there the day after I purchase it!

I'm waiting too, getting annoying isn't it.

Music is great. Pretty much nothing that's been posted on here enthuses me in the slightest but it clearly pleases others greatly. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Stuck a load of old Johnny Cash on spotify last night. Certainly not new, but much of it was new to me. Superb.

I don't think it necessarily follows TKOL (which feels happily dumb)--some seem to think AMSP is their best album in a long time--but simply put, I don't understand it. I've got 0 music background, so some of the splendor is lost on me, but I understand that good writing has both a "voice" and "idea" (or purpose or some fanciful writing term), and these are palpable, even if only viscerally, when you get into the work you're reading. I'm sure this exists here, but I am simply lost and don't see either. In pieces the music is beautiful, but I don't have a clue what it all adds up to.

It's hard finding new bands

I.m from the world of soft rock bands
Bon jovi, aerosmith, Chicago, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac

Don't make bands like this anymore
