I wish I could find the highlights of the game were Wales were beat 7-1 by Holland. Big Nev rolled back the years and got Man of the Match, despite the heavy scoreline (it could have been double). I remember as a kid being so proud that he played for us!

Legend.

Best player I've seen in an Everton shirt. Weird typing that as a keeper but he was truly unbelievable.

I recall being at the Leeds game when he did the sit down thingy.

It was surreal, cos I had been brought up on a diet of success, so had he, I think that was the first time I realised Everton werent the best team in the World anymore.

That late? I had my epiphany at the Villa 6-2 game on bommy night. I remember that day, I wasn't at the match I don't think but it the knowing that the sh*te was about to hit the fan. He did stick around and win us an FA Cup like so fair play Nev you moody beaut.

Southall became my hero in the 95 fa cup final. Years past his best and he held off one of the best attacks in the world single handedly.

In terms of Everton players being the best in the world at their position. Obviously Dean and Lawton were and there'll be some on here who were lucky enough to remember watching Everton when Alan Ball was one of the best midfielders in the world and when Nev was the best keeper in the world but the only player that comes close to it, during my time watching the game, is Baines.

We're damned lucky to have him.
Ray Wilson - you had to have seen him play to appreciate what a classy player he was

Big Nev was the one the best goalkeepers of all time, Shilton, Woods, Seaman were not fit to lace the big mans boots. What annoys me is that he should be treated like a hero by our club, we were truly honoured to have such a footballer grace Goodison and the club should reward him properly; i just wish he would have taken the coaches position instead of trying to prolong his career. The media never seem to mention him either, the man was, and is, a legend.

An all-time favourite of mine. A true legend in his day. But [Poor language removed] I wish my childhood heroes like Nev didn't let themselves go so much.....

i remember that villa game, we were in the villa end (got free tickets of david platt, he lived near us the belter) and if we'd have won we'd have gone top and we got dicked. Big Nev was awesome, some of the things he could do to keep stuff out was incredible. A real intimidating presence that we have lacked ever since.
