I don't understand Sky's coverage at all. During the regular season they would use the American feed for halftime with Shaq and Barkley etc. Then for the Finals they brought in their rubbish English pundits. But for this game they don't have either and they're just showing highlights from the previous games. Awful production from them. Why don't they just have the American guys on given they are using them for the actual game?
I am sure it's all about who owns the broadcasting rights here in the states. Shaq, Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson work for TNT here. They owned the rights to most if not all of the playoffs.
ABC here is broadcasting the Finals. ABC owns ESPN so it's the ESPN crew here.
Ah ok. Then I don't understand why Sky here haven't used the guys they've been using all through the Finals. I mean they aren't very good but I'd rather have them than nothing
EDIT: Just checked on Twitter and I really should have guessed but it's due to covid health and safety protocols that they couldn't do a studio show
I am sure those decisions are far above our pay grades. Perhaps Sky and Turner Broadcasting are on friendlier terms than ABC/ESPN
