2024/25 Nathan Patterson

…Young can show him his medals;

PL winner
Serie A winner
FA Cup winner; FA Cup runner-up
EFL Cup winner
UEFA Europa League winner; UEFA Europa League runner-up
PFA PL Team of the Year (twice)
PFA Young Player of the Year

Player of the year in the first half of the season.

He’s been a brilliant role model for this team, his standards are so high, great example.

….seriously, it’s ludicrous naming Gary Neville and Ashley Young in comparison to Patterson.

Posters defending Patterson demonstrate how accustomed Evertonians have become with mediocracy.
It's not when they're 40 years old. And no slight on Young either who I thought performed decently at the beginning of the season, but you're comparing a player to someone 15 years ago.

Maybe Patterson isn't good enough, but when we signed him he was an up and coming exciting attacking fullback. What does it say about you're teams ambitions when they are signing players as old as Ashley Young ? We need better than both if we have any ambitions.

….i’m saying Young is without doubt the better player now. My post was highlighting his pedigree, something Patterson can only aspire to.

It’s purely a reflection on Patterson that we have a 39 year old who is still superior to him. What an opportunity he’s had at Everton to become a top flight full-back but he’s demonstrated he’s a long way short despite having an open goal to make that position his own.

There’s simply no excuses.

Don't disagree with that, but I'm still glad we gave youth an opportunity, although he's no longer a kid. It's the glaring mistakes he makes which are frustrating as he clearly has talent but can't apply it for the full 90.

….i don’t think he’s top drawer in a single aspect of his game.
If he was top drawer he wouldn't be here. I think he has potential and a skill set that will never be unlocked, and there's plenty of those around. His decision making is too slow for the Premier League whether it be what to do on defence or when to make a pass. He will look good in Scotland is my bet.
