I just don’t see the same Patterson that everyone thinks is awful. Sure he’s not a Hall of Famer. But with him there seems to be more emotion and less objectivity in analyzing his performance. We do have some players who, when they touch the ball, make me pucker up with worry. I just don’t place Patterson in that category.

Yet Beto gave the ball away for an actual goal… Patterson hasn’t been great, Doucoure, Beto and Harrison in particular have been abysmal this half.
A centre forward with no runners giving the ball away on the half way line should not be looked at the same as a right back dillydallying on the ball during a Chelsea press though...

It's not when he has the ball, it's when the opposing winger has the ball. He's far too aggressive in the tackle.

I really can’t say in all fairness that he’s been poor. Michael Keane plays poorly. Patterson has performed good or better. Seems like most of the threat is down the right, which could be attributed to his defence. Patterson has been effective in assuring the left attack retreats and resets. He’s definitely better than serviceable. And to be fair, that’s after barely playing for years.
Personal opinion but I do not think, due to injuries and never having a run in the team, he can be regarded as not good enough.

Beto has been the worst player in blue, by far.

With Patterson, he's 23. I get he hasn't played a lot, but O'Brien walked into that spot he is not familiar with without playing much football and made it his own.

On evidence, O'Brien is a far superior RB at the moment. It's pretty disappointing because Patterson has a lot of great physical qualities that play well in this league, and crosses the ball well.
I’d like to see Patterson get a decent run and sure we all want him to succeed. He gets lost in position and seems unaware of where teammates are everytime I’ve seen him play I think.
Maybe a good run in the team would sort that but theyd have been working on that in training.

The Dyche fanboys have to hate him otherwise they might have to face up to the fact that destroying a young players career for being under the age of 30 and liking to cross the half way line actually made dyche a terrible person as well as manager.
