Thoughts on these comments @davek ? :coffee:
I dealt with those comments yesterday. They're a straight bat played to a crank journalist to pipe him down on an oblique criticism of his selection for the RB berth. Here's what he said:

“Myko is doing very well but with the experience and understanding of Youngy and Seamus it is fair to say it can rub off on these players."

So, he;s saying Mykolenko has his place because he's more experienced. He says nothing about Patterson getting more game time from him.

“They’re going along very well and Myko is currently playing very well.

More of the same from above: Mykolenko deserves his place, Patterson does;t deserve a RB place.

“Patto has more to come.”

Basically that is saying he needs to prove himself.

How on earth you read Dyche's comments and thought they were positive for Patterson I dont know.

Maybe because like most of us he read the bit Dyche said that you chose to leave out.
“The future will be built on the likes of Patto and Myko.”

Not exactly specific. He means younger players like Patterson will play more once Young and Coleman have left. He didn't give a categoric undertaking that he'd ever be the number one RB at Everton. That's called fielding an inquiry.

If we can spend this summer there will undoubtedly be another RB in through the door. I don't think that too many would doubt that.

After all these years I see finally that daves english comprehension skill is severely lacking.

Dyche is a realist who knows he has to work with what he’s got. Even if we get 777 money in this summer we’re still stuck with P&S stuff going back years so I would think any spending will be limited to replacing any “ forced “ sales like Branthwaite and Onana. Unless we sell Holgate and Godfrey maybe Keane , I don’t think it’s automatic we get another right back in the summer unless we can loan one . An oven ready PL right back is going to cost £20-25mill, plus associated wages, an unlikely spend given the position we’re in, pay less and your in the unchartered territory of another Patterson type signing.

Sell Patterson for what we can get. Cut our losses.

I think Patterson has the talent to be very good one day and I’d definitely start him over Young but I’d agree with davek that Dyche had the opportunity to sing his praises but played it down and instead used it as an opportunity to highlight Mykos good form who wasn’t involved in the RB topic at all

The question was just trying to press Dyche, saying ‘Youngy’ needs benching which was dumb as Dyche has done hundreds of these stupid press conferences and will shut down any criticism of his team, especially his favourites
