Shouldn’t have been dropped after playing well at villa in the league cup - the treatment from the manager is baffling and must have shot the kids confidence to pieces.

Look at what happened at left back - young was keeping Myko out, but he’s probably our best player after getting solid minutes and game time - Patterson needs the same care and support - he will make mistakes but so what, Youngs is a walking disaster currently.

If Dyche picks young ahead of him again I’d be looking for a move asap if I was Patterson.

I've no doubt he'll drop Young for Saturday

And bring Coleman right back in

Sad to say I think you’re right, and I can see Patterson asking to leave.

Like you said, he should have kept his place after Villa away and given the sustained run.

If Coleman gets picked ahead of him Saturday then I'd say he's going to need to leave because you can't be behind a 35 year and 38 year old and think thats acceptable.

It should be

Patterson
Coleman

Young

In that order

What are we gonna do when Patterson leaves because he’s had enough, and then next summer when both of the geriatrics retire we haven’t got a right back at the club and not a pot to piss in to buy one?
Patch Coleman back up after his 4th possibly career ending injury in just about as many years and hope he doesn't get injured again (spoiler: he will), what else?

Ha ha ha. FFS, you cant credit enough that tat above.

The Caledonian Cafu gets better and better the more times he doesn't get a game.

He had games to prove himself and 4 managers have preferred to play others at RB.

In any case the skipper's back at the weekend. And not a moment too soon either. He;s the only player we have at the club capable of playing RB.

You’ve yet again failed to provide an explanation as to how Ashley Young is justified in starting ahead of him. Your reasoning seems to simply be that you don’t like Patterson because he used to play for Rangers. That’s not a reason.

That's nonsense and always has been. I see a player who just cant play at the top level. Why on earth should it be my responsibility to point out to to others (which I have anyway btw) why he's not up to it, and why 4 Everton managers have thought that too...people who see our players every day?

You cant tell me why he is up to a starting place other than to say "Young is hopeless".

The solution is at hand now in any case. Coleman back in and hopefully to the end of the season.

Stop it now.

Your post identifies the need for squad analysis and forward planning.

This is EFC you are talking about.

In theory, I get the only reason a manager might consider playing Young over Patterson, perhaps, is if you're doing it because you want a solid veteran that has a ton of experience and won't make mistakes.

However, that ship has sailed for Young.

That's not what we are getting from him

He made a couple brain dead tackles at Anfield which directly cost us that game

And then he does the same thing Sunday

I'd rather have the upside of Patterson, warts and all, then to continue to trot Young out there.

And while I love Seamus, we can't expect him to slot right back in at RB after 7 months off while we have a ready made replacement sitting there.

Enough already

Young being hopeless is enough of a reason to have at least given Patterson a run of games this season. He couldn’t possibly have performed any worse.
