I don't agree with loaning him out, that's just asking another team/coach to do the work that our own coaching team should be doing to improve his game. We either do it and support the lad properly or just let him go somewhere where they will support and appreciate him.

Only so much you’ll learn in training you need competitive minutes, its so beneficial early on never mind when trying to make it in the premier league with limited senior minutes. He’s not really a top talent is he, It’s like asking a novice pro boxer to go and fight for a title without getting the rounds in against journeymen and learning it doesn’t happen unless they’re top top amateurs

Did he? The lad he was marking got man of the match and Patterson was subbed off by the Scottish manager in the second half to work to an equaliser. This in a Scots team bereft with injuries.
Booked early and that hampered him a bit. Was always going to be a difficult night for him against a good winger. Got done for the second goal, gave him far too much space to get the shot away in a dangerous position but he'll be better for the experience.
From an Everton perspective, good that he got 79 minutes in the tank.
