I disagree. If we had taken this attitude with Coleman, we would have missed out on what he has given us for the last 10/11 years. Patterson probably should have had a loan, maybe still could, but even after Coleman’s loan, he still spent 2 seasons not playing RB for us.

I agree, its horrible that the current manager and all his previous ones keep selecting players in front of him.

Bloody monsters.

Has there ever been a player so divisive that he splits the fanbase like this every match, whether he plays or is left out?
Dominic calvert lewin if you go back a few years, but excellent point otherwise.

There might be a parallel...young promising player that isn't seeing immediate results. That said, I don't think his ceiling is as high as DCL.

(Moved my reply to Patterson thread as it’s off topic in Young thread).

Couple of reasons why he has spent his career as 2nd/3rd choice. At both his clubs, he has been behind established club captains in his position. And he is also only just 22. Coleman wasn’t our first choice RB until 24.

Lampard also did give Patterson a run of games at the start of last season and he performed fairly well and consistently, including keeping Coleman out the team when he had recovered from injury. (We had like the 3rd or 4th best defence in the league during that time) Patterson then got injured and Coleman came back in and performed well so rightly wasn’t dropped.

Like I’ve said in other thread, an actual run of games and we would likely see improvement, but coming in and out the team won’t help. And after helping the team to a win and a clean sheet and being immediately dropped again for a player who is also not setting the world alight won’t then help his confidence or his performance levels.

Wow. There's bending the truth and there's making up absolute nonsense.

The lad needs to scoot off to a championship club on loan and learn his craft. I'd love him then to come back and shine.

Pretty bang on the money this.

Please show where the truth has been bent and what nonsense has been made up?

That he hasn't been a liability when played. But anyway.

Let's focus on the future.
When have I said he hasn’t been a liability?

Please, I’d love you to show me where I said that. I expect you can’t as you are bending the truth of what I said and misrepresenting my words.

Couple of reasons or the main reason is he’s not good enough? Even if Coleman and tavernier wasn’t captains he’d still be behind them. 22 and limited games he’s got around 2200 minutes of league football under his belt. Hickey has got about 8000 minutes and that’s what’s holding Patterson back could be good enough with games as of now he’s not and I don’t want him learning on the job for us 12-18 months away learning getting valuable minutes could come back a totally different player.

We aren't good enough to carry a passenger and one who gives away too many chances. Its not the lads fault. He's had it too young. It's in his interests and ours to go to somewhere like Preston or a Hull.
His last two starts have been two great away wins. Its a myth thats he's not very good, he's had not very good games but he's also had very good games.

One thing for sure though is that Ashley Young is doing exactly what you think Patterson would do,.giving away to many chances and being a passenger

Chuckie sweetnsour needs to put the sherry down and get to bed - chatting absolute wham yet again.

Are you upset that the PEDs only drew with Luton lid?
