Another so called Investigator up tomorrow so should be interesting to see what they cough up. I don't think the Judge was very impressed with today's offering.

I hope he calls them out in his final report as not credible witnesses and recommends further action if required.

its a lesson for anyone in life who has to investigate others (my work role involves investigations and sometimes court) that this is serious business and there are rules to play by to ensure fairness for all, and always better that 100 guilty men walk free than one innocent man found guilty.

I loved watching the barrister question the PO biff today, she was superb, prepared, thorough polite and ruthless. He was out of his depth and was shown to be a bonus chasing 'loss' recoverer.

As others have stated, financial rewards for those meeting targets surrounding the punative action of others is a very very murky situation

he wasn't just doing his job, he had had training on PACE and CPIA which govern fairness and disclosure, he ignored both.

Depends, he and others should be investigated and, when the evidence against them is reviewed, a decision will have to be made as to whether they were just shizzle at their job or were criminally negligent. We don't want to create more victims in the quest for retribution by convicting the wrong people. There will be plenty of people within the PO and Fjitsu who knew that both the Horizon system was grossly flawed (resulting in unreliable data) AND that this data was being used to prosecute people and the failures were being kept from the judicial process by not properly disclosing it.

Of course the current hearings deal with Scotland and Northern Ireland only so fair enough. I tried redacting my last post without success. I can't recall anything more than ten minutes ago by the way.

Yesterday's dealings seemed to reveal that there was no or little cognisance that Scottish law is different to that in E&W.

I only caught a bit around lunchtime , only bit I heard of concern was having no investigation plan and not following up doubts on horizon possibly being inaccurate. He seemed a more reasonable bloke than the others on what I saw

Mr Grant yesterday was more articulate than his colleague on Tuesday and acquitted himself reasonably well, even giving us an emotional statement at the end castigating his former employers.
One of the cases he was quizzed about concerned the sub-PO next to where we lived in Raeburn Place Edinburgh at the time. Who knew?

Mr Grant yesterday was more articulate than his colleague on Tuesday and acquitted himself reasonably well, even giving us an emotional statement at the end castigating his former employers.
One of the cases he was quizzed about concerned the sub-PO next to where we lived in Raeburn Place Edinburgh at the time. Who knew?

Not so sure he was really accepting of his part in this though otherwise he may have been more willing to put more effort in and perhaps even changing his mind on the now overturned conviction.

• He said every case he dealt with resulted in prosecution
• Inquiry lawyers had to use legal powers to force Mr Grant to appear
• Mr Grant blamed dog walking and Christmas dinners for taking up the time he needed to write his witness statement, which was just two pages long

The more I see and hear from these so called investigators was that were given almost god like powers with so very little ability, effort, or legal knowledge etc. Thick as sh*te the lot of them from what I can see. And yet the whole system supported them!

Those poor postmasters / postmistresses never really stood a chance did they!
