He took us as far as he could & his limitations were there for all to see.

After he threatened to slap that woman, I’d be surprised if any EPL club would touch him.

I said Moyes' best finishes, so 4th beating the RS and Man United in the same season. He also got us two 5th placed finishes and to a Cup Final.

We were 8 points behind 6th last season and 14 points off 5th. I will admit that we had seasons under Moyes where we were also adrift of the top 5 or 6, like in his final 2 seasons at the club but the consolation was that we finished ahead of Liverpool in both of those seasons.

That is zero consolation to me. Fair enough if it is for you.

See this is a reason I am not a Moyes fan. He has built a loser mentality into our club. Plucky little Everton punching above their weight, knife to a gunfight etc, we should be delighted to finish near the top 6 etc. Sure it may be realistic (minus the being delighted part) but the dreaming aspect of supporting Everton has gone right out of the window. We do not turn up fancying our chances these days, everything is so negative, "Why would *insert player/manager come here". We are just little old Everton.

It's rubbish mate.

You say he's a loser, and he does seem to have become one since leaving Everton, but despite never winning anything at the club, a lot of our fans are short sighted when it comes to his achievements here. Everton were in turmoil before Moyes arrived, relegation battle after relegation battle and the club had turned in to failures long before Moyes arrived at the club. Some of the worst results in my time supporting Everton came just before he got here, like the Tranmere 0-3 in the FA Cup which was an utter humiliation. And then there was the 0-3 in the Quarter Final at Boro which sealed Walter Smith's fate.

Moyes changed all that and turned us from a side expecting to finish 14th-17th each season, to one that was capable of coming 5th-7th. You often hear people using the phrase 'Be careful what you wish for' towards Arsenal fans with Wenger but it turned out to be true with our fanbase too with their ridicule towards Moyes. 'He's taken us as far as he can' they cried lol. In came Martinez and after a great first season we're now in turmoil once again and the one massive influence of the Martinez era has left us for Champions League football and a title challenge. When we are miles away from the top 6 again this season that'll be 4 seasons in a row where we haven't got close to the best finishes Moyes got us.

Moyes got us to a Cup Final, a 4th placed finish and numerous European qualifications. I'd be delighted to just be back where we were under him instead of now being told we have no chance of challenging the likes of Spurs, and should expect to roll over for them when they turn up at Goodison.

I absolutely don't want him back now though, as both parties have moved on.

I think you meant to say Moyes bottled a cup final.

Loser might be harsh. How about not a winner?

David Moyes did fantastic job at Everton, it was his enthusiasm & dedication to this club that I really appreciated & he did take us as far as he could.....however we need to move forward so I do not think he is the answer....
Koeman should be given another six games, we must not knee jerk & over react to early setbacks let's see where we are after another six games, if we are still struggling then Koeman must go....
Then we go for......?

How can that be pinned on Moyes when we had a losers mentality for years before he turned up at the club? I honestly find it baffling that so many Evertonians claim this.

In the 11 seasons before Moyes came we finished in the top 6 just once, and finished in the bottom half in every single season except for that one and a 9th placed finish in 1991. How on earth does that make Moyes the one with the 'loser' mentality when it was already firmly in place? Is it because Joe Royle managed an unbelievable Cup win and great next season, with a few derby wins thrown in, in among 11 years of horrendous and humiliating results?

In Moyes' 11 full seasons he got us nine top 8 finishes. So how is it Moyes is the loser?

Still got us there though didn't he. In the 28 years since 1989, we have only managed to get to one other. We were simply outclassed on the day as well, nothing to do with him bottling it. Pure Evertonian delusion that we should have beaten Chelsea on that day with their vastly superior squad. Doesn't mean we couldn't have won, but on the reflection of how both teams performed, Chelsea thoroughly deserved it.

We beat Utd in 95 mate, who also had a vastly superior team.

Just saying.
