I really don't see what the big hubbub is about. Anybody who thinks manure weren't going to make some kind of enquiry regarding baines is naive. even if ferguson had of stayed on another year I'm pretty sure we'd still be here debating the 12mil bid from united. The fact that moyes is now their manager would only increase the likelihood of this happening. whether it's the amount that's been bid or some kind of perceived lack of loyalty in relation to moyes that is causing issue then let's all just try an be objective about this and try not to create our own narrative.... who here really believes that football now is anything more than a business? sentimentality, morality and loyalty where concepts put out to pasture about 10 years ago. anybody in the modern game who holds these as virtues are the exception not the rule. So lets just accept that EVERYBODY does this kind of thing and not getting all wounded because we're 'different'

If Mark Hughes or Steve Bruce or whoever was manager of United and tabled a bid of £12M for Baines, what do you think the likelihood would be of, say, 1% of people off here shrugging their shoulders and accepting it as 'just business'?

The Moyes factor is at play here. And it quite rightly should be too given he was here 11 years and enjoyed loyalty (and subscribed to a view about low bids being insulting for our players from other clubs).

This isn't an abstract situation of manager makes bid. Not at all. Anyone saying 'this is just the football business' aren't giving it too much thought and merely hiding behind a generalisation to cover Moyes' arse with.

Football is football - i dont expect any loyalty tbh.

It does leave a bitter taste in the mouth though as i believe Moyes is working of inside knowledge of the clubs finaces and threshold for bids, while at the same time no doubt hes sounded Baines out about the move - how hard would be - not very.

Not impressed at all.

Or alternatively they are not concerned with who made the bid which surely offers a less obstructed view point.

Chris Woods really amazes me, he must have been born under an unusual star. He was an awful keeper and somehow managed England caps, he somehow oversaw a string of gash keepers at Everton (Martyn aside) and picked a few ropey second stringers. Somehow hes ended up with roles for America and Utd.

The world really is a crazy place sometimes.

So you think Moyes should show favouritism to his old employees over his new employees???

So if Wenger decides to make a bid for Baines for £18m should Moyes come back and offer us £22m because of his connections and love for the club.

Dave, people aren't hiding behind the fact its Moyes, its called business. A low bid came in and it was rejected, end of story. Its doesn't matter if that bid was a fiver, it was not accepted
 

Have to say i 100% agree with Dave on this - the PL should introdce rules were their is a cooling of period were managers changing clubs cant bid for players from teams they have just left, it creates an unfair advantage to other clubs but also puts the club left in a more vulnerable posisition in terms of inside knowledge- while they no doubt have direct contact with the players of the club they just left.

He's defo got compromising pics of the whole of English football's top brass. It's the only explanation.

Remember the time he had Wright practicing before a match at Stamford Bridge in a goal with the 'keep off the grass' sign handily placed to injure him?

Incredible coaching ability.

The big winners in all of this will be City and Chelsea.

After such a long period of Ferguson, I can't believe there will not be a knock on effect of him not being there anymore.

Just don't see the above trio earning the same respect from the United players from the off.

Im convinced he uses Jedi mind tricks to convince everyone he has any ability. His misses must make some great scones or something that he brings in to coaching meeting.
