Moyes to Sunderland?

Sunderland are considering Real Sociedad manager David Moyes as they look for [Poor language removed] Advocaat's successor but he is not near the top of their list.

The 19th-placed Black Cats want a wide range of options to replace the Dutchman, who quit on Sunday.

They are hoping to name a new boss before their next Premier League game at West Brom on 17 October.

Available pair Sam Allardyce and Nigel Pearson and Burnley manager Sean Dyche are leading the bookmakers' odds.

In all honesty he'd be great for them.

TBH, I think the game's moved on from what Moyes was able to do in the PL with us. He got his plaudits from buying very low and getting good quality in and using the close knit nature of EFC to get a disciplinary regime together that got results from meagre resources.

I doubt very much that Moyes would be given time to make those strategies work when a) the cash is there now in abundance to buy players, and dithering over months/years to unearth a cheap gem with the right attitude wont be tolerated, and b ) other clubs do not have our culture of patience with managers to afford them enough time to impose their personality on players.

He should do what McClaren did and drop into the Championship.

Sunderland would take anyone, he would be a dream signing for them. Every relegation threatened team is dreaming of a David Moyes.

Yes Dave, signing quality players for peanuts is a flawed tactic.

LOL

Moyes would be good for Sunderland. They look like a team in disarray, he would bring a disciple to them. No one will get an easy ride there, for some reason the supporters think they are a top club, they have delusions of grandeur.
Moyes would be as good as anybody they could attract.

He needs time to do what he does. Relegation threatened teams dont get that time.

Didn't at Everton, turned us round in 9 games. These guys don't care about breaking the glass ceiling, they want a manager to stave off relegation this season and put the foundations in place so that it never happens again. If you can do it on a negative spend and not moan about it as well then they're even happier. Moyes gets another ten year job at a fan base who will take that long to realise they want something a bit more and the owner gets a decade of PL money.

They would much rather this to constantly hiring and firing expensive short term managers who whinge that the chequebook hasn't come out (Advocaat). If Moyes leaves Sociedad a lot of the bottom ten will be queueing round the block for him. Sunderland, Watford, Newcastle (when Schteve messes it up) would all be interested and so will other teams if the likes of Bilic, Hughes or Ranieri suddenly hit relegation form.
