Why not? Simeone doesn't play a typical Spanish style and they seem to be doing alright. If you can organise a defence well in any league that should be enough for a top half finish, or even better - see Lille last season.

they dont do that any more - hilariously they broke that policy in order to sign John Aldridge - but they dont have any money and will sell any players that they develop.
