Moyes Though ?

It's called TV money...which everyone now has. It's really not hard to work out.

You can't characterize our spending as anything more than middle of the pack.

We have bought 22 players for £100mil. Which sounds like a lot...but 28 of that was on Lukaku, 13 on McCarthy, 9.5 on Funes Mori, and 13.5 on Niasse. Jury is largely out on the last one, but I reckon the others were money well spent. That leaves 18 players bought for an average of 2 mil.

Or in other words we've had a net spend of £47 mil on 22 players...2.1 mil per player. Peanuts.

It doesnt mean anything of the sort.

Some of those players were free, on biggish wages, some of those players were on Loan.

I gave you the averages above, I notice you chose to ignore them, cos they dont fit your agenda, Martinez has been given more money than any Everton Manager before him and is currently on course to add worst home record, only manager to achieve first round double cup exits, to his riding on Moyes coat tails record points 72 points 72 record season points 72.

In comparison to the rest of the league the money he was given doesn't really matter though. Still middle of the pack moneywise.

Don't try to characterize it like we've been spending like mad...that simply is not the case.

The new tv money will be in the bank for the first time this summer (or last summer) right? Can anyone clarify on this?

In: Lukaku - £28m, Niasse - £13.5m, McCarthy - £13m, Funes Mori - £9.5m, Kone - £6m, Lennon - £4.5m, Deulofeu - £4.2m, Besic - £4m, Tarashaj - £3m, Robles - (undisclosed; roughly £2.5m), Barry - £2.5m (due to a clause not free), Holgate - £2m, Galloway - (undisclosed; roughly £2m), McGeady - (undisclosed; roughly £1.5m), Rodriguez - £500k, Alcaraz - free, Cleverley - free, Eto'o - free.

Out: Fellaini - £27.5m, Naismith - £8.5m, Jelavic - (undisclosed; roughly £6.5m), Anichebe - £6m, Duffy - (undisclosed; £1m top), Eto'o - (undisclosed; roughly £1m) Distin - free, Heitinga - free.

I didn't court the fees of youth team players like Hanen, Long and Kennedy. Fees would be minimal.

Spent roughly £96.7m and income is around £50.5m = £46.2m net spend in three seasons = £15m plus net per season.

If everyone has this so-called tv money and Martinez has this team sitting 12th then it's his problems.

You really just take things out of context to suit your argument. £2.1 mil per player yeah right Moyes's record must be £200k per player yet we finished in the top 6 consistently.

You can't compare Moyes' coffer to Martinez's coffer though...it's apples and oranges. We are still middle of the pack.

The fact is Martinez has more resources than Moyes yet we now finish in the mighty 11th/12th position two seasons in a row. You just cannot say Martinez is not backed by the board.

I rate highly what DM achieved at EFC but he is history. RM was at the start a breath of fresh air and even now
EFC going to Chelski, Utd, City etc is not a home banker as it was under DM. However this season has been mismanaged big time.

We have not maximised Lukaku - yesterday it seemed he was again Robinson Crusoe, able to see a blue shirt on the horizon but not able to make contact. The subs were awful as always under RM but the one big saving grace for me - Niasse apart and pending further evidence - has been RM's ability in the transfer market.

Besic and Mori were poor last time out. This time Barkley, Coleman, and Lukaku were poor. I just hope we can hammer B'mouth and get some confidence before the semi-final. Big test now for RM.

I don't think 5th is the same as 12th/15th. Sorry. It is a massive difference.
While I do indeed understand Dave's point, I think that after 3 seasons seeing your team in 15th position tells you that enough should be enough for a club with ANY minuscule amount of ambition.

72 points? 69 points? Heck, even 80 points, are insignificant after that...should it become factual.

But, Moyes and Everton are done.

72 points trophy but that was 5th. Moyes got 4th in 2004-05 which was a superior achievement.

I want him out too...just dispelling the myth that he somehow had more money...especially compared to the rest of the league to spend.

Well Martinez does have more resources than Moyes. Facts and stats said so.

Who's that him? Martinez I bet not.
