Moyes Though ?

He may have played him now and again, but we wouldn't have seen the Stones of now, who is lauded by all, because Moyes wouldn't have allowed it, he would have programmed Stones to just hoof it away, if Stones tried a quarter of the stuff he does now under Moyes, he would have been dropped like a lead balloon.

Stones needs a manager like Moyes tbh. His defending is way too casual. There might be a few less Cryuff turns and a few more clean sheets.

Yes, we got top 6 all those seasons too didn't we? No. We averaged 8th for that 2002/03 - 2008/09 period....pretty much the average so far under Martinez's short time in charge.

He left us top 6 as I said. He had us in the bottom half twice - which Roberto looks set to equal already.

I think it's more Stones thinks he's better than he actually is (he is boss though) because of all the plaudits he's getting, he just needs someone to give him a rollicking, and remind him sometimes the best thing to do is just put his foot through the ball.

Honestly mate, ive no issue with anything hes done, im not saying hes perfect, hes a young lad learning the game, hes comfortable on the ball but hes not overly careless IMO, he has been in the past, maybe thats why people are a little worried, but the 2 incidents this season, I personally dont see an issue.

Hes making mistakes, with his positioning and his tackling, but his reading of the game is superb at times and he really will be a top, top player when he irons out his "issues", but to stress, I see no issues with anything hes done regarding being on the ball.

Im quite baffled and a little angry at the ground swell of comments from some people, saying hes "believing the hype", look back to the way he played 18months ago, thats who he is, cool, calm, composed, the things we all noticed in his first few games, its not him being an ego, its just him being John F Stones.

I love watching him picking the ball up at the back and coming out with it, I actually thought his Cruyff turns were boss against Spurs, if the ref wouldn't have gave him a free - kick, I reckon he would have turned Son again, and then played a 50 yard ball on Lukaku's chest, I would be gutted if we tried to change him, all he needs to add to his game is to know when to get shut.

We weren't "almost relegated" in 2003/4. We were safe with quite a way to go in the season and stopped playing. There was never any danger of us going down.
The players deserted him at the end of that season, they couldn't bear him. If they'd done it a bit earlier he'd have put us in the Championship. That's how close it was.
