Moyes patiently waiting...

That is not the sort of manager we should be going for - its actually what got us in this mess. It's along the lines of Pearson and Howe. If Newcastle can have a champions league winning manager of the calibre of Benitez we shouldn't be settling for someone who can "have a team challenging for top half"
Oh goodness. Read again. I said if he was further along in his development. Also he took over not to long ago so what he's done so far is like near to 4-5 form.

Punches above our weight?

We are Everton. Competing for best of the rest should be the minimum not a great achievement. Moyes did an alright job. Very good at first but wasnt capable of going any further.
We might want to have top 4 as our birthright, but the truth is we were under funded throughout moyes' tenure and in those circumstances we did punch above our weight. Moyes did a very good job.

It won't happen because as a few have said, if Kenwright IS calling the shots, then he won't sack Martinez, so the hypothetical situation where bill grows a spine is non existing.

However, should it happen, I think a lot of fans will be taking a step back. I appreciate fe job he did for us, he really did save our skin, but that said, he knew he was leaving, well before the fergie announcement, ye just say and milked the club dry for his £65k a week to scrape by doing just enough, to keep him in the job.

For everything Martinez is doing wrong, the one thing he's done right is develop youth, and the emergence of stones and Barkley and the rest, would simply disintegrate, and we've be left rueing missed opportunities for getting a top manager.
I am a huge fan of what Moyes did for us, but I would not want him back, with the TV deals, I think its almost overnight become a different league to the one he was so successful in.

I am confused by this though...

he knew he was leaving, well before the fergie announcement, ye just say and milked the club dry for his £65k a week to scrape by doing just enough, to keep him in the job.

6th playing quality football is just enough to keep the safest job in football?

I'd have Moyes for the cup games like. But we can do so much better.

Honestly though, it's just the media looking down on us again. But we act like a small club so we can't get mad when we're treated like one.
He was gash in the cups

People wanting moyes back is like someone goin out with a girl for years . It was solid but not too exciting. She eventually had her head turned by someone supposodely better. Went to them they realised what she was and got rid early . Also while she was with him she slagged you off and said you were small time and no great prospects.
Then she went to a Spanish waiter who was a bit desperate but he also got rid cos she could not communicate.
Yet people would take her back the ginger slag !

Moyes did an ok job for a long time, under tight constraints. Only when by universal acknowledgement that we had a much better squad was he shown up to be, like us, best of the rest. Like us, unable to take that step further. He was the ideal manager for us for the first two contracts. The third contract, after the delay in signing, should've been an indication to BK that he was restless.

Some of you saying you'd take him back, but you wouldn't really want him back...? WTF? Broken up with a bird recently? She dumped you for a reason, get over it and go after an upgrade now you've got a bit more in your arse pocket than with misery arse. That posh bird down the club that wouldn't look you twice in the eye before? Try again. Use a roofie if you have to.

But never, ever, go back and settle like you're a pair of old slippers.

The biggest handbrake on this club though has for the longest time been BK and pals. Don't expect that to change with the arrival of Mr. Moshiri. He's invested, same as BK did, but for a much higher buy in. They've all made off like bandits. Don't expect him to aim for anything less. He's rich, compared to us, but he's not got lazy money either.

Unexpectedly back in Liverpool this week, and bumped into so many faces that are all off to Wembley tomorrow. Enjoy it. I'll be halfway through a 24 hour trip to some outpost in the Middle East, perfectly timed to ensure I'll miss the match and any mention of it till I get into work on Sunday.
