Yeh it was the right decision to rest players.
God forbid they have to play a midweek game aswell as at the weekend. How on earth can professional athletes do that?
Who says we are going to get to the cup final if we get liverpool in the semis he will let them walk all over us again .It's understandable people are disappointed after last night, but it's still in for me. It was the right decision to rest players last night.
Plenty of Kopites here I'm afraid. And yes they gloat. But one of the 3 games had to be sacrificed to a weakened team. If people's argument is that he should have rested players against Spurs, then fair enough. But he obviously thought we had a better chance against beating Spurs at Goodison than winning at Anfield. I wouldn't disagree with him on that.
do ya know Holloway isnt a bad shout. passion in spades drive determination and attacking play.
Brendan Rogers
Paul Lambert
Slaven Billic
Gus Poyet
Nigel Clough
Ian Holloway
Paolo Di Canio
Chris Hughton
Nigel Pearson
I'd take any of the above right now. All would bring a bit of positivity & would be hugely appreciative of the job & traditions of the club. Not to mention that whopping £70k a week!

Well he won't rest players for a semi. I agree there are no guarantees. We may lose on Saturday. If we do then Moyes will have made a huge mistake this week as our season will be virtually over. My point is that last night's result has to be seen in the bigger picture. Moyes will only have screwed up (in my opinion) if we go out to Sunderland.
It isn't as simple at that though is it? All premiership players are at the peak of fitness. Playing at 95% makes a difference at this level. Sunderland have no midweek game so their fitness levels will be higher come Saturday. The difference between 100% and 95% could be the game.
A win in the cup doesnt justify resting players and pretty much throwing the game. If Everton win next game its not only because players were rested. The game last night was huge for Everton. You could actually have overtaken them in the league, that would have lifted the fans and the players. That would put even more pressure on Liverpool and there would have been a good feel factor coming into the cup game. You cant lose to your local rivals and say you are not disappointed. Can you imagine if this was a foreign manager who said that? Everyone would be on his back and say he doesnt get itWell he won't rest players for a semi. I agree there are no guarantees. I've heard it all now.
Those players playing CL and EL, but who still finish in the top 4 places, must be freaks then, they seem to handle 2 games a week and still win
No, they are better players. And they have more depth in their squads. It's a consequence of having money to build a decent squad. Everton rotating Anichebe & Stracq into the team is obviously not going to bring the same result as City rotating Dzeko & Tevez into theirs.

I don't understand the argument that they threw the game. That team last night was weakened but I would still expect it to be capable of getting a result against an under-performing Liverpool. Hibbert, Jagielka, Pienaar have been key players for Everton. The problem was the two strikers, who are not really good enough.
You are absolutely right on the difference between media views of foreign & domestic managers. Moyes (along with Redknapp, Hodgson etc) does get over praised in the press.
Why rotate at all?
If Rooney's fit, he plays for Utd every game, same when Lampard & Terry where in their pomp at Chelsea, and Gerrard at Liverpool, they don't get rested for midweek games coz they're only at 95% or whatever
