Toffees boss Moyes furious with Toon duo with Anichebe set to miss rest of the season | Mail Online

David Moyes vented his fury on a second Newcastle player on Friday as he faced losing striker Victor Anichebe for the rest of the season.
The Everton manager described Newcastle midfielder Kevin Nolan’s studs-first tackle on Anichebe as ‘terrible’ and revealed that an equally horrific challenge by Ryan Taylor had made Jack Rodwell a major doubt for Saturday's home game with West Bromwich.
Nolan was shown a straight red card for his foul on Anichebe, and Moyes was adamant Taylor should have received the same punishment or been hit with a FA charge for an early clash that left Rodwell with a damaged thigh.

Anichebe admitted he hardly dared look at his leg, after fearing he had broken it, but the outcome could be almost as bad after a scan showed he had sustained ligament damage.

Moyes was just as enraged with Newcastle’s former Wigan midfielder Taylor following an incident that went unnoticed by the referee and appears unlikely to be acted on by the FA.

The Everton boss said: ‘Victor is struggling. He will be out at least three or four weeks, but it could be a lot worse and could even be the rest of the season.

'We won’t know for sure until he sees the specialist next week, but there is ligament damage and there could be more.
‘That would be really hard to take, given the nature of the tackle on him.

'It was terrible, and the prospect of losing him for the rest of the season because of it is incredibly disappointing.
‘We’re not at all happy with what happened in that game. Apart from Victor, we may well also be without Jack this weekend because of another terrible tackle earlier in the game.

'It was a horrible challenge from Ryan Taylor, and he should have been sent off.

‘It really was a shocker, and Jack has not been able to train at all this week, yet we have not heard anything from the FA about it.

'No contact whatsoever. It’s so disappointing to lose players like that, when it’s down to those sort of tackles.

'But it seems there is nothing we can do about it now, other than roll our sleeves up and get on with things in the usual determined manner.’
With Yakubu and Mikel Artetal ready sidelined for the rest of the season, Anichebe’s setback could hardly have come at a worse time, particularly after his positive response to a recent training ground dressing-down from Moyes.
‘It’s a shame for Victor, because we’d just got him straightened out, and he was starting to do the job for us,’ Moyes said.

‘We’ve had this with him before, when he has played well for two or three games, then dropped out, and it has happened again, albeit through no fault of his own.
‘We feel desperately sorry for him and for Mikel, because he was playing brilliantly and is feeling really down.

'But he is already looking forward to next season and setting his sights on being back for the start, and that sums up the spirit we’ve got here.’

Hmm didnt Moyesy try and sign Ryan Taylor before he went to Wigan. He was at Tranmere if im not mistaken.

Was a shocker of a challenge though im even more gutted now if Rodders is out!(n)

Was Taylors that bad or is Moyes just moaning cause Rodwells injured?

I'm surprised it was Ryan and not Stephen Taylor though, he is a dirty [Poor language removed] who could hurt someone.

turned out to be an expensive point, the barcodes tackling was a obviously they are going to kick their way to survival and take no prisoners :@:@:@

That's all well and good, but where was this outrage immediately after the final whistle? Maybe the FA would have taken action if he'd have done what he should have done and kicked up a **** storm and not come out with the 'not that type of player' line. Cap in hand gets kick in teeth, as the old saying goes.

I don't think he even got booked for it. He went in on him strong missed the ball then gave the lad a sly stamp on the shin while he was the floor, leaving rodders in pain

true that

They are a dirty team that goes without saying. They should have had at least another player sent off, and possibly even two. they got away with more than they should have.

whinging and fussing about every dodgy tackle as soon as the whistle goes is kopite behaviour, and moyes isnt a fat spanish waiter!

You can only imagine the trail of distruction and broken limbs Fellaini must have left in his wake given his disciplinary record this season. Unless the system is an arse of course.
good point - the worst thing Felli did was elbow someone in the chops on the goalline - but the ref actually missed that and he 'got away with it'.....
can't remember which game it was though....old age is a terrible thing.
