So we are comparing lamberts impact at villa after 3 or 4 months with moyes' 10 years do you think your maybe bring a little unfair ?

I have never campaigned for moyes to leave by the way although I put myself firmly in the nobody is irreplaceable or bigger than the club camp .

If Villa keep playing like this they will have a good chance to go down. Lambert's selection of team is very strange.

And I firmly remembered that some said we should replace Moyes with Lambert few months ago.

I can only speak for myself but I've never campaigned for moyes to go but like I say I'd have taken lambert if he'd left . Before we talk about signings moyes brought in lei weifang & dicky wright amongst his first didn't he and he's certainly improved over the last 10 years.

If villa struggle then I'd suspect the vast proportion of the blame lays with the years of ineptitude & lack of stratergy before he arrived plus the money available for transfers & wages makes a big difference to the quality you can bring in. The squad at villa looked woeful when he arrived and he's approached it head on for me so I'm not comfortable with writing him off just yet

Fair enough. Let's see how Villa will do this season but what I have seen so far on tele, I am not impressed.

He's spent 22 million of the owners money this summer. Moyes hadn't had a third of that not funded by outgoings in ten years.

I think moyes will stay for a few more years, especially if we get into europe this season, He's building another great team here i don't think he will want to go. The team he has is looking exciting.

Yeah I have just checked out the record, Lambert had bought in 8 players with something around £22 million this summer. He had spent money. If Moyes were gone in the summer and Lambert bought those **** in...where would we be?

It sounds like I'm a kopite or lamberts biggest fan but the first two or three signings (from holland I think) were already in place before they'd offered the job to the likes of Martinez so I'm pretty sure they weren't his . The youngsters he signed you'd imagine are a priced at where they'll be when certain appearance or other criteria are fulfilled and perhaps the same with benteke as that seems to be more than the figures that were thrown around when he was linked to other clubs. I know some sites price gibson at £2m but id imagine it'll be a while & reliant on other factors until we're required to pay that out. You've got to keep in mind they banked about £20m last year so have money to spend but also an interest in pricing deals at the top end. If you look at the players as well you'd suspect there are very few on the kind of wages we pay our top end players

All that said he's certainly spent more than I'd have thought off the top of my head but I really think he needs to be given time to see how his side progresses .

I agree on this. It's six games, that team might turn out to be a world beater when given time to gel. I rate the guy a lot. But he has spent money is all Im saying.

I don't think we are massively disagreeing mate .

Do you take my point over the transfers ? Are you using that 'transfer league ' site for values ? As like I say they value the Gibson deal at £2m which is the top end of the deal which maybe gives you a pointer on where their figures lie especially when you look at a few of the youngsters he brought in. If you google the benteke deal the fee assigned by most is about £7m and El Ahmadi was already in place before he was probably on the short list so there is £5.5m off his spending before you look at the youngsters deals

Oh, sure it's probably less then that up front. I take your point entirely.

And given that he inherited a wage bill that for the 2011-12 season was 83 million to our 58 million, he probably couldn't offer the big wages and signing on fess that make up most of our expenses. Like you said, he's paying for the poor spending of the previous managers,

I think the thing with all these "new" managers is just that - they're new and need more time to be judged but whether they'll get it is debatable.

Unfortunately I suspect the one with the best chance of success is Rodgers simply cos the pennys dropped among the leathers they aren't going to win a bean changing managers every year plus, much as it kills me to say, they have some decent players.

To be honest, Lambert has probably actually ahcieved more in the first 7 years of his managerial career than Moyes did in his.

Getting Everton 4th was Moyes biggest achievment, but getting Norwich from bottom of League 1 to survival in the Premier league considering what an absolute shambles they were in at the time is arguably a better achievement.

Mind you, managerial sucess is all circumstancial. Di Matteo went 12 games with only one win at West Brom, but won the FA cup and Champions League with Chelsea. Does it make him gash, awesome or somewhere in between? Obviously any sensible person won't judge a manager purely on his record but will look at all the mitigating factors and circumstances in play.
