Jesus titty fecking Christ.

Aside from the fact that he's burned all bridges with the club and won't ever be welcome back, it's still about the stupidest idea I've ever heard. This isn't american football where you have a defence whats personnel is separate from the offence. Without the ball 11 players defend and with it the same 11 players attack. You cant send the back five or back seven off to one coach and the front six or four to another. Unless you've suffered a massive brain haemorrhage recently I don't know how you'd think Moyes and Martinez wouldn't be at complete cross purposes. The thought of Moyes laying into John stones for bringing the ball out of the defensive third instead of just lumping it forward to be safe, FFS.

What on earth is going on in here lately.

Maybe Defensive Manager has thrown you off.

A defensive coordinator is typically a coach on a team who is in charge of the defense. Generally, along with his offensive counterpart, he represents the second level of command structure after the head coach. The defensive coordinator is generally in charge of managing all defensive players and assistant coaches, of developing a general defensive game plan, and of calling the plays for the defense during the game. At higher levels of football (college and professional), the defensive coordinator typically has a number of assistant coaches working under him; usually coaches primarily responsible for the various defensive positions on the team

So you'd be happy with the club giving him his 80 grand a week to show someone how to mark

I'd be happy with 80 grand a week. Is that what you mean? I live 14,000 miles away I couldn't care less who pays who what now.

If he's worth that much, then sure, Why not.

Aside from the old saying "You never go back", and I don't think Moyes is a suitable candidate, I don't think it's a terrible idea in some respects. An assistant manager or head coach with a good defensive record wouldn't be a bad idea. Sounds like your proposing an NFL still offensive coach/defensive coach split. Whilst I don't think a situation that black/white would work well, a variation on the theme might work well. Certainly you could have someone else leading the defensive side of training etc...
