Moyes and the ACON

Player Valuation: £40m
I know Moyes has a dislike of the African Cup of Nations, but I was wondering whether it goes deeper than that and that he doesn't want any players in his squad who will be on international duty for the tournament? He fell out with Yobo and Yakubu. He allowed Pienaar to leave. And he decided against signing Demba Ba. Anichebe is probably safe because he's only a fringe player for club and country.

I appreciate that there were other factors with each of those players, but you'd imagine that the ACON was definitely a big part of his thinking.

I edited the Anichebe bit...

With the greatest respect I don't think Acorn has anything to do with it. Moyes fell out with Yakubu and Yobo because he falls out with everyone, Pienaar left because we had to get what we could for him before he became a free agent, and we passed on Demba Ba - I think wrongly - because apparently he's got knees like he has daily tackling practice with Lee Cattermole.

Or maybe Moyes is just a bad racist.

I think Moyes likes playing the same side week in, week out if he can at all help it and having players going missing for 6 weeks every time the tournament comes around is too disruptive. I can understand it to an extent, but I don't think other managers make their transfer judgements with it in mind quite as much.

This thread quite literally belongs in an episode of Hollyoaks or maybe Eastenders.

Have people now decided to ignore reality and start making things up about Moyes?

He fell out with Yobo because he kept hoofing it and wasn't up to it. Lisbon saw to that. He fell out with Yakubu because the cheeky tit asked for a 25% pay rise. Pienaar wanted a big pay day and there was no falling out.

But hey why let reality get in the way or some great stirring and misinformation?

You were saying ?

Are you trying to say that they hoof it more than Yobo ?! Really ?

You can make statements of disbelief like this all you like, but unless you have any stats which show Yobo hoofed the ball orders of magnitude more often than Jagielka does then your point doesn't stand up to much. Jagielka is a well known hoofer of the ball, and his poor distribution is acknowledged by the majority on here as one of his weakpoints.

Jags when playing for Everton hoofs it as much as anyone I have ever seen, when he played for England he played it along the floor please explain.

With Everton if the ball goes into midfield it either gets lost or goes out to Baines.

With England the centre midfield has an ounce of creativity.
