Moyes and the ACON

To be honest I'm not arsed if Jags hoofs it.

He either gives it to Baines or hoofs it because there's nothing else on.

I'm glad he doesn't fanny about at the back with it because he's clearly not Pique or someone with the skill to do so.

This thread quite literally belongs in an episode of Hollyoaks or maybe Eastenders.

Have people now decided to ignore reality and start making things up about Moyes?

He fell out with Yobo because he kept hoofing it and wasn't up to it. Lisbon saw to that. He fell out with Yakubu because the cheeky tit asked for a 25% pay rise. Pienaar wanted a big pay day and there was no falling out.

But hey why let reality get in the way or some great stirring and misinformation?

If anyone else but Matt had said this he'd be getting rep and applauded to be fair.

Yobo, awesome to start, then got ****e had to go.
Yakubu, awesome to start, got injured ,greedy and ****e, had to go.
Pienaar, one good season, ****e either side of it, greedy christian hypocite, had to go.

WTF Matt, I agree!

Converts to Moyesism*

Agreed. Matt had it right from the start.

That being said, I also think that it is true that he doesn't like the Acon. Not for racist reasons as some implied (give me break), but for the very reason that every year we have one of the smallest squads around and we can't afford to lose 4 regular first teamers for such a long and pivotal period in the season.

Going to page 1, didn't we "pass" on Demba Ba for money reasons? I.e. we couldn't offer him enough / afford sign on?

If the rumour is true that Moyes hates any player that crosses him, then it is obvious that the situation with Yak staying on Holiday after ACON duty was not only the first and final nail in Yaks 50 year old coffin, but also that bad joohjooh on any player electing to swan off to represent their country in what is probably the worst tournament since the Devonshire tiddlywink championships and resultant revenge tattooings.

It's a significant consideration in my view. If you have a small squad and key positions filled by players who will disappear every two years for 4 of the most crucial weeks of the season in Jan/Feb it can have a huge effect on your whole season. We can't afford that - imagine Baines or Fellaini had to go this year.

Also it is a more pressing issue this season than ever before as the ACON is changing from even years to odd years to ensure that it doesn't fall in WC years, therefore there is ACON 2012 and ACON 2013.

A more pertinent question might be why do FIFA sanction this tournament every two years? Surely it should be every four years in line with other major tournaments (such as WC, Euros etc).

I believe its because it doubles up as World Cup qualification? So technically one is for the ACON and the next is for the World Cup qualification but they just throw in an ACON with it. Something like that anyway.

What about Timmy Cahill, Moyes has never stopped him from travelling to the other side of the earth to play in stupid little crap games against tiny little islands who they beat 20 million - nil. Granted it was only for the odd week here and there but its "nearly" ruined Tim's career (imho)...

I edited the Anichebe bit...

With the greatest respect I don't think Acorn has anything to do with it. Moyes fell out with Yakubu and Yobo because he falls out with everyone, Pienaar left because we had to get what we could for him before he became a free agent, and we passed on Demba Ba - I think wrongly - because apparently he's got knees like he has daily tackling practice with Lee Cattermole.

Or maybe Moyes is just a bad racist.

that was a bad popcorning, almost knobnut like.
