Moving to Cumbria

Seriously, don't move to West Cumbria. I moved from Liverpool to Workington after I finished Uni. It's awful. I've been here 3 years and looking to move away. The town's round this area have been lost to drugs and you never see a bobby anywhere but you see plenty off people of their faces on drugs in the middle of the day.

My advice look elsewhere.

Gosforth. There you go. Just stay there it's nice and quiet and well out of the way/close enough to just drive places to go elsewehere. I'd imagine houses would be expensive compared to the bigger towns though.

Problem with Gosforth is it’s a stones throw from Sellafield and gets pretty rammed with traffic and people looking for digs.

Yeah i'll give you that. When I look at the majority of my mates who have worked there since 16 and will retire there I think i'm lucky to have jibbed it right off and moved.

I've been a regular visitor to Sedbergh for the past 20 years due to my Dad moving here. I fell in love with the place right away.

It's a world away from the hustle and bustle of Liverpool, but Kendal is only 30 minutes away when I want to re-enter civilizaton.

I'm finding it to be quite an adjustment but the place is beautiful. I wouldn't change anything. I call the Sedbergh school "Hogwarts', because the pupils look and act like extras from Harry Potter.

I'm amazed just how many people from Merseyside and Manchester live here. It's not the place to be if your in your 20s or 30s, but for me being in my mid-40s, its perfect.

Plus you`re a stones throw away from the Yorkshire Dales too.

It really is a beautiful part of the world.
