Anyone noticed a lack of decent movies lately. Went to the video store on Friday night and what do I see such rubbish as Giant Shark vs Huge Octopus or some such crap. I blame those internet downloaders or perhaps it's the financial crisis thingo.

I gave Giant Shark vs. Huge Octopus my coveted 4 stars rating. Trailed only Rambo vs. Predator, Terminator, AND GI Joe in sheer awesome buttkickingness.

No excuse for shitty film making, lots of bluds still go the cinema if the film is decent. I agree, its been ages since I watched a film and thought, yeah, that was super or even looked forward to the release of a film.

Watched that GI Joe the other day, special effects/ CGI/ Stunts are great, story and acting is so full of cheese its unreal.

also an unwillingless to go head to head at the box office, for fear of losing an awful lot of money.
i.e. Pixar are bringing out a new movie, mmm they are usually pretty good, don't want our film to go largely unnoticed due to the enormous amount of advertising for their film, and the game, the clothes, the merchandise etc etc. kids will deffo go for Buzz lightyear part 19 cos they've gone for every other one, we'll have to either shelve this or go straight to dvd, thats it then 'captain underpants - the curse of the nostril nuggets (3d) will have to wait a while.

Outlander was a good film, That Colin's been out for a while now, if it's the one i'm thinking of Billy Connolly is the zombie

Dont blame the studio, blame Blockbusters. They ask for those direct to video shitty films to get made so they can fill the shelves.

You know those movies out before the big movies like Transmorphers? Snakes on a Train etc? Blockbuster ask the production company (I cant remember their name, I think its Asylum) to make a number of films so they can stock the shelves. The production company take a fee, make a cheap film, mugs go in the shop thinking its Transformers or something, Blockbuster make money. Cha-Ching.

Plenty of good movies out nowdays though. Just gotta look for em and be open minded.

If you want a decent film to watch try "Fifty Dead Men Walking". Its about a young lad that gets lifted and recruited by the Special Branch in Belfast. The Special Branch coerse him into doing deeds for the IRA so they can infiltrate a splinter group. He then risks his life feeding information back. Its a true story too. The accents are strong Belfast so you might need a keen ear but its well worth the effort. Am not a film buff but I'd recommend this one.
