I think a possible sign on this transfer will be whether Valente signs a new deal. If he does not sign a new contact it does not automatically mean we wont sign him, however last year Valente is meant to have been heavily involved in the deal, and I would imagine Moyes would want him to stay and help him settle in if we did sign him.

Its a fair point, but The Mout was Vice-Captain of his club at 19 and Captain at 20, he doesnt need time to settle. He would hit the ground running.

If we do not sign this boy this season, I think I might cry. I dont even know why I think we will, he costs lots of pennys and we have none.

There's been so much hype about him potentially coming here, that if he does come he probably wouldnt live up to the gigantic expectations anyway..

Kenwright - Joao Moutinho Move Close - Reports - Goal.com

Everton supremo Bill Kenwright has revealed that talks with Sporting CP for Portuguese international Joao Moutinho have reached their final stages, with a fee of 12 million Euros likely to be agreed Monday morning.

Moutinho has been a longtime target for Everton manager David Moyes, and the signing should be well received by the Goodison faithful, who were hoping that the club would get their transfer dealings done earlier than last years last minute deal for Marouane Fellaini.

"We've been chasing this lad for a long, long time, and we're absolutely delighted that we're on the brink of thrashing out a deal to bring him to Goodison Park."

Manager David Moyes added that it was Moutinho's utility which was the attribute that most impressed him.

"He can play anywhere across the midfield, defensively and offensively, which should be a great asset to our squad. He's got a calm head on his shoulders and he can dictate the play aswell, so he's a very good signing."

Nice one.

So summing up, he's not coming.

Imagine if was though.

Hmm. Maybe it should be "Race to sign Moutinho"

Moyes has got to sign him before we get to 200 pages!

8 more pages till we sign him!

Strange one this for me. Clearly we have been chasing for ages. Clearly he is a top class player. Why do the press not link him to any other clubs? Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea, RS, Villa?

It's got to be good for our chances of signing for a reasonable fee but I find it strange.

Because he doesn't want to play for any of those teams and if they signed him he would go into early retirement. He wants to play for us or Sporting, no one else.
