I did that for a while, nothing to do with any religious cult though, more laziness as I had to trim it too often, due to tickling my nose and going in my mouth. Now I am fine with the trimming of the moustache area of my full beard.

But then again, I have had nearly every single style of beard since I was able to grow facial hair, so it was always going to happen at some point.
