So I got a new one. And it is boss.

The old one is a Logitech MX-518, which is no slouch (in fact, it is plain awesome)

But now I rock a Logitech G9x. Oh my god, it beats the MX-518 in all catergories. It fits my hand better, it has a ratcheting scroll wheel that can be unlocked for free spinning, it is fully programmable. Plus it has the adjustable weight thingy going on, so I can make it feel heavier or lighter. It really makes a difference. Just a lovely mouse to game or browse with. Top notch. And you can change the color of the backlighting using the software provided. See the red stuff in the pic.......it is blue on mine (naturally)

The man from Del Monte.....he say YES!

Both mouse's (?? would it be correct to term the plural for the mouse, mice???) have on-the fly sensitivity adjustment too. So you can set the different sensitivities in the setpoint software and then hit the button when you are doing anything to change.

For instance in a FPS, you can go to super slow movement while sniping, but then go to hyper-fast when running through the map. I thought it would be gimmicky on the MX-518 when I first got it, but now I hate going to work using a regular mouse without it.

I rate this post with a nerd factor of 8...well done.

I use the frugal LS1...$17.99 at WalMart, can't beat it. Used to plonk down in the $100 range but it's just not worth it, IMHO. I go through mice like coffee goes through my bladder. And just say no to wireless...

ever heard the saying 'more is less'

you can put some whipped cream and cherries on top to make it look better, but I'm satisfied with the one here, it does the job, moves about and all that it should.

No big frills needed.

Only 8 :( Would have hoped for higher. This mouse has an onboard memory to store multiple profiles in it. So you can use it on someone elses computer and have your profile, rather than going back to default. This is important at LAN parties (not that I have ever been to one. Although I want to go.....)

Disagree, I like the features of this mouse a whole lot. I get frustrated when using a mouse without them now. But as the saying goes, to each their own.

Now, now...9's and 10's are reserved for breaking GHz barriers with LN2 and super-dorkified things like that.

I was at Fry's Elec about an hour and a half ago and picked up/put down a Radeon 5870 about 6 times before I eventually ran out of the store yelling "No! No! No!"...I came so close.

hehe I am a nvidia man myself

Got a G92 8800GTS 512Mb that is overclocked. Then I also sport an GTX 260 in the other computer (this one) not overclocked yet, but it is new.

The other computer has the E8400 oc'd to 3.6Ghz. northing fancy, just a nice 600 Mhz oc on an Arctic 7 cooler.

Whatever turns one on??

I guess if you want to build a computer should ask Dylan for advice on the components. Not so hard really built a few in the past.

building computers is a basic version of what I do Robert. And I enjoy what I do, so why not make it my hobby too (y)

Looks a nice mouse, though how many buttons does it have?

I've used the 518 and wasn't impressed on how easy it broke.

After gaming for many years, and too many mice to mention, I eventually opted for the Trust Predator.

A cheap 'ish' mouse that has 7 buttons, instant dpi change ( 600,800,1200,1600 and 2000 ), a two shot button, and side grip, with lots of lights ta boot.

My 518 that is on the other computer is still going strong.....almost 3 years now since. It has been dropped, banged and covered in coffee twice (I have kids and a clumsy wife ;) )

The fire button became faulty on mine.
Inside a mouse of that type, there are little protuding nipples under each button, which are activated by the rod attached to the button itself.
The same thing happened to the Raptor M2 Platinum I had ( awful in my big hands ), which had the weights too.

I sold both on Ebay for £5 eventually.

I use a Medium Razer Goliuthus mat now for gaming which is much better than my old gel mats. I got mine for less than a tenner, which wasn't a bad price.

Currently playing Bioshock, but bought a few other games yesterday.
Legendary, Necrovision, and Alpha Prime. All 3 for £10 inc delivery.
Not sure what they'll be like, but better than paying £9.99 each on Steam to find out.
