He's unbelievably fortunate that Pickford saved Maddison's penalty and Doucouré slotted against Bournemouth, or else we could so easily be sitting mid-table in the Championship with an unserviceable debt threatening the club's existence.

I'd also like to think that he had 777 on strings, using them as short-term liquidity to see through the infrastructure project knowing that they'd never be ratified, but I think he got mighty lucky that the Friedkins came back in when they did.

Ultimately, however, the history books will show that he had more ambition than anyone else within the club, which finally resulted in the successful building of a fantastic stadium on the banks of the Mersey, which will serve us for the next 100 years.

So despite the above, I struggle to harbour anger towards him, as he's taken a 400m haircut whilst attempting to bring the club back to where we belong. I'd be happy enough to see him back to see the stadium, even if it's taken 20 years of my life expectancy.

I'll always be grateful that he delivered us a world class stadium on the waterfront, something that our previous owner(s) had continually failed to do - Kings Dock was a sliding doors moment that we've never really recovered from imo.
His ownership was chaotic and largely impacted by events outside his control but we survived by hook or by crook and we're now arguably in our best position to kick on in decades.
I won't miss him but I do respect that he's done more for us than many others.

It was a ride filled with hope (I certainly remember so many posts about the Mersey Millionaires from many on here), which slowed turned to stagnation and him wanting rid of us.

Lots of speculation about who backed him and no doubt he meddled and made some disastrous decisions.

One thing he has left is a brand new stadium which is the envy of the Premier League and despised by our neighbours.

When we look back, it's been a terrible period but we now have a foundation for the future.

Lots of wrong but he got this right.

He tried to sell us to a bankrupt pack of scheisters
He didn't sell to them though. He did get us new owners, a new waterfront stadium, spent hundreds of millions on transfers and brought in a world class manager.

Whether his competence is at the level we wanted may be debatable, his commitment and desire to making us a footballing force isn't.

He hired Benitez

No one should ever be forgiven for that.

Despicable.
They - the collective clown board, and HE ignored the absolute tidal wave of fan revolt against it too, probably the most heinous and despicable thing to have ever happened to the club. Balugue had more sway than our own fans did which sickens me to my stomach.
