Brother and his partner sold up their house a few months ago in Durham (grown up kids etc) and bought an apartment level outright (no mortgage needed) in a three block, freed up 100k as a nest egg too, massively reduced their energy costs also.

very very lucky timing looking at what's happening and how bad it could get for lots.

Did well there good luck to them.
The service charge on apartments has aways put me off them.

Yeah not sure what they're having to pay for that, but for the two of them a three bedroom and pseudo home office was just way too big.

Both seem happy and can only imagine that what's happening makes them glad on their timing doing so.

I might be mate if I wasn't paying the mortgage off to let my daughter live rent free in my other house
Not bad in the grand scene of things really.
The pension is my girlfriend mine is not anywhere that.
She will spend on travelling,
I will Potter around the garden and enjoy the peace.
I really don't need much for my needs but I know I am dammed lucky.

A few years back I remember listening to the radio and the expert was saying 9 in 10 cars are on finance at any one time. If a car is over 10 years old is probably the only one guaranteed to not be on some sort of finance due to second hand car trade etc.

If that's true, there's a lot of money being poured down the drain on my street that people can ill afford.

I`ve got friends, who don`t even own the clothes on their back mate.

Absolutely everything is either a loan, a lease, a store card and to cap it all off, they have interest only mortgages, golf memberships, fancy gym fees and kids in private schools too.

Their whole life is one big circle of debt, but according to them, living the life was what is was all about, as they jetted off for their fourth foreign holiday of the year, paid for on a card.

It may sound callous, but I don`t have an ounce of sympathy for people who have chosen to live their life this way, as sooner or later, it was always going to come back and bite them.

Well, who's gonna bail out the poor banks this time? It may be coming at us faster than expected. Good job doubters, you wanted Truss afterall...

This crisis is very different tho, the only debt we have is our mortgage
