IIRC Allardyce said in his first interview when asked where Rooney is best played that he should be playing in the centre of midfield where he dominated the West Ham game from. Never has he done that since.

Played the same against Huddersfield. Then he tweaked it against Newcastle, Liverpool, and Swansea which we won 3 and drew one and he played as a CM or number 10. Missed two games through illness. Then has been in and out the squad.

While he should be playing there...the shape still isn't good enough to have anyone capable partnering him consistently.

We need an actual CM.
