A) he won the ball quite cleanly without touching Aguero at all, so yes, it was a good decision if that's the criteria against which we judge any tackle.

B) he's been perfectly fine this season, and had a fine game last night, especially in the first half when he nullified Silva's impact significantly.

C) in his 8 full seasons of senior football prior to joining us, he's averaged 37 games a season, which given that he's undoubtedly missed a few due to suspensions is a pretty good fitness record I'd say.
Tackling from behind is verboten. Any PL player who doesn't get that needs to take what they are handed without argument....any PL player already on a yellow and coming at Aguero from behind at the Etihad needs to take a second yellow and be fined by their own club for gross stupidity.

It was asking for trouble in the sense that the ref couldn't see the contact point whatsoever and therefore made a judgement based upon Morgan sliding in and Aguero writhing around afterwards. As I said, there were a lot of similar tackles made last night where the ref had a better view and didn't even give a foul.

So, are you saying he didn't touch the player at all?

I'm certain he caught the back of his heel. Maybe somebody could post a vid of it.

I think it's easy to criticise a player from an armchair, in the heat of the moment he slides in gets the ball and his trailing leg catches a player who is renowned for his thespian skills, these are split second decisions. I know some of us will look for any and every opportunity to criticise the players and manager, but this is ridiculous. Someone also suggested DCL should've been booked for play acting, have you had a chance to review the other camera angle yet Mr Magoo? I suppose humble pie would be a bit too much to expect from an ardent recidivist.

I didnt think Walker deserved a second yellow last night after the replays on Sky but then seen this, this morning and he did deserve it. Calvert Lewin didnt con anyone.

No mate. You see the impact from behind and its shoulder to chest, nor shoulder to chin.

I have no sympathy for Walker btw, he made that bed to lie in through his pantomime villain movement in that move. But that doesn't excuse C-L for his dive.

Laughable that anyone (apart from the forum idiot) is finding fault with the tackle. Don't care if he is on a yellow. It was a good clean challenge. Schneiderlin got it right and the referee, not for the first time in the game, got it wrong.

And as for his form he was off the pace first couple of games but since then has returned to being one of our best players.

..it's difficult for referees given the speed of the game and the histrionics of players. For me, these are clear examples of why video evidence should be used immediately to support major decisions. It would take little or no time to get the correct decision and actually add to the match experience.

I wonder if some of you actually saw the game tbh.

Firstly it wasn't a tackle from behind, he came across Aguero from the side. He clearly won the ball cleanly, and merely lightly caught the diving beaut on the follow through. Since when has football been a non contact sport like?

He played well yesterday, as he has so far this season. He's a quality player, and he'll be a big miss on Sunday.

Are people honestly saying he didn't touch him? He caught him with his trailing leg, I'm pretty sure on that. And a tackle from behind and sliding in from distance is always at risk of a card and a foul even if you take the ball. I wasn't surprised at all when the card came out, and I think it's harsh not to acknowledge how the ref may have seen it even if you think ultimately it wasn't a foul. Ref has to call it in an instant. First reaction from me to him sliding in was no, no, no... Bad decision by Schneids for me.

he's a very good player. a few games of not being at his top level is no big deal.

It's possible it was only a light touch, but at least you acknowledge there was contact. I'd have to see a replay again to judge how hard the contact but I thought it was enough to knock him off his feet.

I think it was more or less from behind though. Slightly to the side.

As @Foot Long Hot Dog says it was from the side and the TV angle at the time showed he didn't even make contact with him.

probably needs looking at again but I would say when watching it, my first, second and third impression was that it was a shocking dive.

from memory he catches the back of the heel and takes the ankle then. I don't think its a surprise that a ref gives the free given he has come sliding in like that. Maybe the yellow is harsh though, a bit of evening-up as Koeman said.

Comical people see that second yellow for schneiderlin as valid. Pretty much going to be a none contact sport soon if that tackle is a foul, never mind a yellow. He clearly won the ball. He literally touched aguero with his trailing leg who then proceeded to twist his entire body sideways so it looks like he's been tackled from behind. If you actually watch it schneids slides in from the side, takes the ball, literally touches his heel with his trailing leg and goes down like an absolute sack of.

I've no problem with our players getting red cards if they are for tackles like that. Anybody who actually plays footy will tell you he's conned the ref. Do that in Sunday league and you'd get laughed off the pitch. The Prem and the refs are so far disconnected to what football actually is it's ridiculous. There was barely a bad tackle in the game yesterday and somehow there were 2 players send off. That ref is an utter liability but unfortunately pretty much all of them are because they've never actually played.
