Morgan Schneiderlin

Hes a very good no 8 to my mind and balanced player between defense and attack, he will transition the play, battle and block. no way is he a play maker or someone who going to get over 4 assists and goals a season and rightly so its not his role or skillset.

Although strikers, palymakers and wingers are the exciting signings you really need a good core that can be provided for players of that nature to perform, they will do nothing without the ball, so winning and retention is key. Two good centre halfs and two good central midfielders with a balanced game is the core of any food team.
His signature move is to get the ball and immediately look downfield/out wide for a fairly long pass.

I see Barkley becoming more and more redundant in this direct play Koeman set up as the ball bypasses him. I think he'll be sold in the summer.

I thought he looked outstanding, and was delighted with his passion in helping ensure our goal was correctly given by getting in front of the linesman and having his voice heard. Can you imagine captain fantastic Jagielka doing so? He'll only get better in time. I'd like to see Davies played in Barkley's position with Schneiderlin and Gueye behind him, Ross on the bench. I think that could have potential.

Or possibly.... Rom when we play 4 at the back.
Barkley Davies Mirallas/Ademola

Schnied Gueye

I think Davies had all the attributes to be a top No. 10. Vision, Final ball, spacial awareness, ability to take it on the half turn, movement.

Only Koeman would have paid that price for a player not in their own team's plans. I cant remember a stampede for Schneiderlin's services at that price, can you?

I would agree with you if he was 32, but age, impact and service comes into it.

I never understand this, if he stays 5 years hes cost us 4.33mill a season, thats pretty decent i would say.

I think we definitely need to get out of this must-put-Barkley-in-the-starting-eleven mentality. He's probably nowhere near good enough.

Not a bargain though by any stretch. WBA ruled themselves out before it reached £20M.

Everton overpaid here by at least £6/7M, and, imo, more than that given the circumstances that he was in not in United's plans. Jose done us there.

I think its about varience mate, i think his balls are an option as is the Barkley playmaking key, one criticism i have had is our linear approach to attacking since Bolaise got injured, shut down Barkley and Lukaku and you shut down Everton. If you can unlock or penetrate by sweeping a ball to Lookman or Mirallas i think its another string to our bow rather than one or the other. Might also draw attention away from Ross.

Lukaku wasn't in his teams plans either and he's managed to easily surpass his price tag?

He wasn't going to go to anyone in the top 6, nor bottom 10, nor anyone who couldn't afford him which left us and West Brom?

Also Koeman has worked with him before, so I think he's in a much better position to judge his value than you and almost all other prem managers.

Attacking down the flanks is Koeman's preferred game. You'll see a hell of a lot more of it now that Schneiderlin is in the team. As said, I think this Everton is evolving away from Barkley. He is just not a player that will thrive in a Koeman team.

I think your right, i think he wants to get the ball forward as quickly as possible and the flanks will be important in that. I think the breakdown/second phase is important to that system as well, you want Barkley et all coming into support doing a Lampard in the breakdown or second phase if the flanks is triggered on a coutner at pace. I do think that can happen centrally as well though, if Snedis or Gueye can release Barkley centrally he may have Lookman, Mirralas and Rom on their bikes in the play ahead of him, i dont think the two things are mutually exclusive.

Going down every time.

Gabbiadini went for £14m-£17m.
Because selling teams wont attempt to squeeze out the extra cash from our peer group clubs. They have all the indicators though that this manager of ours will look to pay big in order to go to the front of the queue for what are quite average to good players.
