What is he actually supposed to be good at?. He was gash at Man Utd as well.
He’s not really very good at anything. I don’t hate him and think much of the criticism that comes his way is over the top and easy scapegoating, but he is a very ordinary footballer. Basically he’s quite good at just keeping things ticking over in midfield. Couple of tackles, some simple passes, that’s about all he’s got in his locker.

At Saints he could get around the pitch and was decent on the ball. He was a failure at United and since he's been with us I think he's totally devoid of desire, physically lacking, totally lacking guts and thinks he's too good for us when he's utter crap.

He really can. He’s not very good but the idea that he’s the worst player on the pitch every time he plays is just a bit silly. You don’t get 20 odd France caps and picked by all the managers he has if you’re useless.
He MAY have done it in the past. Certainly not for us at any point.

The fact that he's not played for France in 4 years (despite being in his prime years, 26-30) speaks volumes about his recent performances versus those in the past.

Barry was 1000 times the player this guy is. He keeps things ticking over but contributes little outstanding to defence or attack. He kind of gets away with it being in the middle - no one expects him to attack and the defence get the blame when he doesn't screen. Perfectly decent on the ball but adds little.
