Ok. Let's break this down then mate.

1) I pointed out 10th/13th is going backwards from 7th. That is going backwards. I dont like throwing out words like moron, but it would be moronic to say that is anything other than going backwards.

2) I say play for one of the best English midfielders of all time. Nobody could question that. Hes captained his team to the CL, and leagues, cups etc. This is just a fact mate, and for a young midfielder, it could be a pull.

It's not claptrap, it's just reality.

Who is Portugals greatest midfielder he is playing for? Bruno Lage?

3) Everton are much bigger than Wolves mate. They are not financially ahead of us, we have a bigger turnover. But yes, in our worst season in 20 years, they finished above us. In their worst season in the last 20 years, they were in the 3rd tier, a level Everton have never fallen to in our 144 year history.

4) Please enlighten me how me saying that finishing 10th/13th is lower than 7th. Saying that Lampard was a world class player, and saying Everton are a bigger club than Wolves has caused Everton's decline? Run that by how some bloke giving an opinion on a forum has caused it?

What you are saying doesnt make sense, and you have this nasty edge when you get corrected. But even I wouldnt say you have caused the decline. You're nowhere near significant enough to do that, and nor am I!

We are where we are, because we have an inept board, that cant grow revenues, or spend money effectively enough. It has nothing to do with what you, or I write on a forum.
I'll get back to you later. Last orders are nearly in.... but you're talking cobblers and you're deluded in your Blue fantasyland.

Free transfers are obviously different.
Gray and Townsend were bought to bulk a slim squad. We need first team enhancers.
Gray and Townsend both showed signs of brilliance at times but like most of the rest of the squad were absolutely destroyed by an arrogant kopite waiter. They might do better this season but we wont lose much either way. Just sick to death of us spending loads of money on a single player and mostly being let down apart from the odd ones like Richie. Have to just see what happens and hope that Thelwell knows what he is doing.

if you know the players you want you sign them

The players we want may be waiting for better options. Clubs have a list of 3 or maybe 4 targets for each position, prioritising them in order of who the manager wants the most.

The best players will have other options, maybe with clubs in Europe or who will pay them more, or even clubs who look like they may challenge for the European places next season. Things we can not offer them.

A player with no loyalty to the club may not think Everton look attractive or going places. Many of our fans do not.

I agree with the sentiment completely. I’m sick of signing players coming for their last wage, rather than players On their way up. Just think we disagree on how much we can get these players for

So what type of player is he? Who he similar to in the premiership
Not sure of a PL comparison, but I watched him a fair few times playing for Sheff utd last year. He is comfortable carrying the ball forwards from the middle and has a nice eye for a pass. Perhaps more importantly for us (if we play 4-3-3), he is really good playing on the right hand side of a front line. Lots of skill, hard-working and good vision, plus a good finisher.

He has to step up from the Championship of course, but when I was watching him, I did often think "I wonder if Wolves would entertain a bid for him, he'd be good for us."

Only seen bits and pieces when he played for Wolves, but in watching highlights from last season, you could imagine him playing in a variety of roles. Looks robust enough to handle some battles in the middle of the field. And yeah he did seem to find himself in some positions on the right wing that made me wonder if he could play that position more. If we play with withdrawn wingers I could imagine him and Gordon in those two roles. Definitely looked like he plays with his head up too. Some nice passes from deep and good vision going forward like you said.

Yeah. I know a lot of people would be down on signing him, and perhaps the price tag is a little steep, but I'd be excited.

For me, we should be signing mostly young players from a mixture of championship, Ligue 1 (France, not beneath the Championship) and a couple of lesser known leagues like the Austrian Bundesliga. I believe these leagues offer the best value and types of player for our profile/budget.
