Transfer Rumour Morgan Gibbs-White

It is not about being good enough.

The way Wolves play is not a great fit for Gibbs-White.

They have played 343 and 352 without offensive midfielders. Gibbs-White is not a winger and not a striker. And when Wolves have better wingers and better midfielders than Everton, it will be hard to get minutes out of position.

I expect Everton to play 3421 this season. With two "number tens" just behind Calvert-Lewin. Alli, Gordon, Gray and hopefully Gibbs-White compete for minutes. And with 5 subs they should all get minutes.
This is how I read it as well. Under Nuno, they played a fast counter attacking style. It didn't suit MGW according to my mate.

I'm not sure mate. In the last 10 years, we have probably finished above them like 7 times I'd guess? Have they ever got more than 59 points in a league season? Or more than the 61 Koeman got?
Sure if you want to go back 10, 20, 50 years but the reality is the here and now. They have finished higher 4 out of 5 seasons, got into Europe and lost an FA Cup semi. What exactly did we do except go further backwards and this next season ain't looking too great?

1) As I said, the perception of a Wolves fan and if reports are to be believed, we might yet pay that for him.
2) Very arguable. You could say Gordon played in a team struggling in the Prem while MGW was playing in a team that finsihed 7th... or trying to. He had some very promising performances before the powers that be decided he wasn'tquite ready. I'd say Gordon is of the same ilk. He did well last season but has many weaknesses to his game that he needs to improve if he wants to be a top Prem. player. No difference in the two to me...other than the obvious bias some on here will have.

Well 10m of it is a sell on. We will probably end up paying between 15-25m if he does really well.

Wolves finished 10th mate, with 51 points. MGW has scored 1 PL goal and is a couple of years older than Gordon. Gordon has 400% more goals than that. That's not bias, it's just evidence.

I like MGW too, but objectively Gordon is worth a fair bit more (hence why he is touted at 35-40m starting price).

1 year.

They finished 10th on the last day of the season after spending most of it in 7th / 8th. I think we'd take that.

Disagree re: Gordon. He's no better than MGW.

Well next season isnt looking great for them is it? They were bottom 3 form 2nd half of last season. Like with respect lad, if we used projections of what might happen, anything could be argued couldn't it?

You seem to want to introduce arbitrary cut off dates. You think 5 years is here and now, but 10 years isnt. What about 2 years? Who has got more points over the last 2 years?

Team a has 96 points. Team b has 98 points. Which team is miles ahead? Or are they performing in a broadly similar manner?

And no, we havent done a lot, but we are still comparable to them. Imagine where we would be if we started performing well.

A sense of bitterness perhaps?
Fact is, they have come up from the Championship and have been probably the best team in the last decade to do so. They have left us in their wake and have a progressive transfer policy of recuriting younger players who increase in value. One of the reasons Thelwell is with us I would think.
Bitter? No!

Facts are that Mendes have a say when they buy and sell players. He sits on both sides of the table during negotiations (not allowed in most countries) and if his hand picked manager do not play his players, he can replace the manager.

Mendes have secured then cheap talent they can sell on for profit. Thelwell was hardly involved in transfers. His big transfer was Adama Traore, a player they try to get rid of.

One has proved he can hold his own in the Prem and the other is MGW.

Well we were top 5 most of the season before, it really doesnt matter, it matters where you finish. They finished 10th with 51 points.

And that's fair enough re Gordon, but the evidence would indicate his record is a lot better than MGW at this point. Subjectively though, you're welcome to make your case.

That's the perception of the Wolves fan I know. Probably based on this:

With the greatest respect to the Wolves fan you know, he clearly doesn’t have a clue does he.
