Just a quick update on this golden oldie. Sadly he isn't doing as well as hoped. On the 24th of May (a couple of days after his surgery) he sent me an e-mail saying:

I'm still recovering mate, after three and a half hours of surgery, lying there wide awake with wires shoved up both cut wrists, lasers and mini pneumatic drills having failed to clear the blockage in my heart the surgery team gave up for fear of compromising the arterial wall, basically I'm ****ed ha ha ha ha. I will have to wait another four months for the effects of this failed op to clear and for the doctors to decide if they will open me up to clear the blockage. The way I feel at the moment mate I really can't be arsed, you end up feeling like a lad rat, what will they try next, I suspect I'll tell them to leave it until I have another heart attack. I haven't written to that many people as both wrists have been strapped up and are bruised to hell. Doctors tell me to rest, don't lift anything and don't drive for a few weeks, I'll be bored to tears pal honestly I will. It seems the blockage has been there for years, may even date back to when I had pneumatic fever as a child so I should really count myself lucky, many games of football, cricket and rugby went by in between time it seems I could have had multiple mini heart attacks over the years..............the doctors telling me it was asthma so I've got a smirk on my face having acquired memories I may not have done if I had known what was really going on inside me. The doctor who performed the op said that in fact one vein had backed up and become a small artery.............he had seen this before but it was very unusual and a sign that my problem had originated many years ago. As it is I have a part of my heart that has nearly died, it causes acute angina, I told him that I didn't find it at all cute ha ha ha.

Got another e-mail from him yesterday saying:

Health was hasn't been that good as the op has upset my sugar levels due to thinning of the blood for surgery, it takes four or five weeks for that to clear so I'm still very up and down, mainly down at the moment as my weight has increased but you can't win every thing ha ha ha! Seriously my angina continues so I just have to watch matters!

Glad to see that at least he hasn't lost his enormous sence of humour. Asked me again to send you all his best regards and he hopes to be back posting, sooner rather than later.

Sorry to hear that about Monty. Sounds pretty frigging rough for him at the moment. I hope to God he sees a quick improvement and gets the op he needs to make life a bit more enjoyable.

As you all without doubt will have noticed, Monty isn't posting on this forum anymore. As I knew he didn't have the best of healh, I decided to e-mail him yesterday. Got a reaction from him, that it was indeed his health that made him decide to leave this forum. He suffers badly from angina and sometimes got to wound up for his own health. He had to promise his wife and his doctor that he'd stay away from all internet message boards.

Said that he'd appreciate it, if his forum mates on here would e-mail him from time to time. If anyone of you feels like it, but don't have his e-mail adress, let me know and I'll pm it to you.

He also asked if I could let you all know, that last Friday his dog Polly finally passed away. They had to put her to sleep. She died in his arms and he understandable was downhearted about that.

So, I kept my promise to him. Hope his forum friends won't let him down.(y)

tell him to keep his spray to hand... and he'll be fine. take it easy monty

Got an e-mail from him on sunday and he was in good form (as much as you can tell from an e-mail) he doesnt rate englands chances much and is looking forward to the blues this season coming instead. Have to agree with him there.
