Between Arteta and Jagielka tonight. Both had great games, however seeing as Arteta Scored id give MoM to:

Arteta

I just cannot pick. I didn't want to go "ooh the whole team did well", but everytime I think of Aj being everywhere, I am reminded of Osman being everywhere. When I think of Osman blocking free kicks etc, I think of jags, blocking everything.... and so on.

Class, just a class performance, and I'll be buying the DVD of that game when it gets released. And it will get released. Too good a game to die, that.

Arteta was superb - if he doesn't make the Spanish team on the back of that performance there is something seriously wrong with the Spanish coach (or he's a complete idiot)

Osman played out of his skin (although his contribution wasn't as flashy as Mikel's). Joleon and Jags were superb too and there were other candidates too.

It's very very hard to pick one player from a whole host of candidates. You could make a decent case out for 7 or 8 of the team as the outstanding player on the night.

It's a real tough question - but I think Mikel, just, with Leon a very close 2nd.

I hope Capello was watching the English lads tho.

I posted a thread (but alas, no one felt it important enough to post in it :() about how Del Bosque will be taking over for Luis (no really, I can evaluate footballing talent) Aragones after the Euro's.

Maybe he'll get a look in then.

But for now, you're right Toffee Dan. The Spanish coach IS a complete idiot.

Mikel's goal was something out of nothing, the angle, the position and the fact that he stuck it in the only place that the goalkeeper couldn't reach makes him my MOM. It's a joy to see him dictate the game again, something that's been lacking of late.

It is hard to pick out an individual because it truly was a team performance. Well done lads.
Mentions in Despatches for Jags, Joleon, AJ, Ossie, Cars and Pienaar and last but not least, the 12th man, THE GOODISON FAITHFUL.

First game I've missed in four years and it had to be this one!
