Making sure there is a guaranteed fee around our valuation is what matters. Not whether it all hits our bank account this weekend or next summer. Almost all transfers are done in instalments these days. Deferred payment through a loan with guaranteed obligation to buy is not a lot different.

What we cannot have is any sort of contingent option to buy or a normal loan. That is not acceptable.

I think I speak for most when I say that I;m not arsed what it means for 12 months down the line, I;m arsed about what it means for the last 5 days of this window. If it just means wages freed up then it's all a bit meh.

I guess it depends if the fee is deferred till end of season or the next financial. We may also be getting a loan fee to pad out the final fee. But as you say, this deal needs to work in our favour this window. Time will tell.

We got on with it all the way to 10th place. Not saying keep him. Just that we need more depth.
