The first time I noticed him was when he played for Basle against Chelsea . He's a good player no doubt and his statistics are pretty good . It baffles me though as to why he's never played for the likes of Bayern , Barcelona or Real Madrid . As you say that's where he ended up.

There's a litany of collapsed transfer deals, agitation for clauses and stuff throughout his biography. He seemed to be close to signing for a number of English sides only for them to pull out because he would come back at the 11th hour asking for something extra.

If he feels that strongly about the issue of Palestine he should make a proper statement supporting the Gazan's and not the mealy-mouthed weak as piss one he made...or wore a t-shirt with a message on.

I noticed, despite the prematch announcement to the contrary yesterday, that the rs were not wearing black armbands.

And the non-celebration ... I read that as he realises he's getting on a bit and is paving the way for a retirement move to Everton when he's finally crocked and past it.

This is a great thread. A small step towards greater mutual respect between us and the RS. It's good that we're man enough to acknowledge a world class player when they have one.
