Mixed Martial Arts isn’t the problem. It’s the jumped up thugs it attracts, which takes it away from martial arts’ core values.
No it’s isn’t. MMA is a very technical sport.I have no idea how this even counts as a sport. It's just barbarism.

I’m not defending the sport. The reasons I and you mention are the reasons I don’t bother watching it.Cmon lads, If a sport needs defending, you already lost tbh. Its audience is really representative of what goes on. It’s not fit for purpose and really is a comedy show.
It helps to attract thugs when your cote values include pummeling a felled opponent. Awful sport followed by far right weirdos who want to be tough via osmosisMixed Martial Arts isn’t the problem. It’s the jumped up thugs it attracts, which takes it away from martial arts’ core values.
Whilst I agree with the wider point (the discipline and tribe should round bullies into controlled aggression) I think it’s down to the gym and its culture. I box in an MMA gym and they have a no nobhead rule which is well policed, everyone’s sound really. I really can’t stand arrogance in any fighting discipline, UFC is edging the way of boxing which saddens me (which leads into your wider point).MMA was ruined as soon as the bell end masses jumped on the band wagon. I did Muay Thai and Ju Jitsu in the late 90's to early 2000's.. Barely a nob in either.. Classes now full of utter weapons. UFC is total garbage.
UFC 1-15 was the real stuff!
