Wow. Just saw the end of the game - and well, wow. Talk about unexpected. Wratho - I hope you were watching.

Although the lack of bodies in seats is cringeworthy. Yikes. Wonder what Ian Darke thinks - although he sounded pretty excited - the last few moments were fun to watch.

Woot... Got the scoreline right..... but everything else wrong........

Having the game in Toronto kinda puts the chances of having all the seats full pretty slim , it was freaking cold.

To the game. Fist team to score did not win. The ref should have called it tighter, and thrown some cards out for some of the stuff going on. It was getting brutal. Shea was no where to be seen. If he would have showed up might have been a different game.

Pickens did make a great save with a couple minutes left.

That's the save I saw - wow. I feel pretty awful for John. He'll remember that for a long time. Soccer can be cruel sometimes. But congrats! Very well played game at least - I hate the games where it's the flukey ugly win. This was earned.

I will have to watch a replay of the match as I couldn't watch it. That said, I am already looking forward to my Sounders getting re involved in the 3 way northwest derby next season.

The league should look at last night's attendance before going catering to FIFA and the international schedule. I love football, but I'm not going to Foxboro in late November or March to watch the MLS.

The game itself was tough to watch at times. The normally whistle-happy Toledo was just awful last night. Sorry to say, there's "letting the boys play" and then there's "ruining the Cup Final." I didn't think the foul on Casey in the first half was a penalty, but the kick out by Benitez? was red-worthy, yellow at the least so that nothing else like that happened in the game (which it did later in the second).

I thought the players were up for the occasion though, the play of both sets of center-mids played very well. For having so few "names" I thought the play was at a very good standard, which I expected from Dallas, but Colorado delivered as well.

At times it got a little sloppy, but at every point in the game one team or the other was playing well, and placing the other team on the back foot. There were a few times when there were bad passes by both teams, but on the whole it was a decent match to watch. That ref should have reined it in a little more, would have made for a better game. Wondering if the MLS instructed him blow the whistle as little as possible, that is the only answer.

Putting the MLS on the international schedule is a horrible idea. Blatter is for it and if you want your league to thrive the MLS they'd be good to listen to whatever Blatter has to say and do the opposite.

Many people who go to MLS games go because its an affordable option (unlike the NFL), because its not baseball, and to tailgate in the summer (its one of the reasons why the best attended USMNT matches are in the summer). I would like to see December to September schedule (1 game a week early on and maybe 2 starting in March) which could let the MLS sell players in the summer transfer window and let them go after the playoffs. I think it would to give the playoffs more of a center stage as well.

Placing the finals in a neutral site is just beyond stupid as well. I don't know what the MLS is thinking in that regard. It should be at the team with the best record or a home and home. I also would like to see the number of playoff teams cut to 6 (top 2 get a bye) but I can't see that happening.

Amen. I bet the empty seats in Toronto (though weather was a factor) helped turn the tide towards having the final at the better record team's stadium. And the 44% decline in ratings (yikes).

Agree with you on the playoffs. 10 teams next year is TERRIBLE. Seriously - that's more than HALF the league! WHY? For teams numbered 2-10 that's just weird. I bet you'll see a lot more players rested towards the end of the season now if the Supporter's Shield isn't in sight. I mean, why bother?

MLS Wants $20 Million Per Year To Broadcast On Fox Soccer Channel
The negotiating is going quite slowly.

Dec 20, 2010 6:47:00 PM
Major League Soccer have apparently asked for $20 million a year to give their broadcasting rights to Fox Soccer Channel according to a report on the Sports Business Journal.

The league currently gets $3 million a year and FSC offered to pay $7 million a year for the rights to America's top flight soccer division.

Both sides are apparently quite far apart in the negotiations with the league understanding the importance of a profitable deal now as it would surely set the precident for what they could ask for in the future and would help set the direction that the league goes in.

Sources have also suggested that the league has turned to the cable channel Versus as a possible alternative if a deal can't be struck with FSC.

Don, you are smoking crack. No way are you getting $20MM based on the ratings from last year. Good luck with that (though I think in general you're doing a decent job minus the LD situation).

I don't mind the playoffs - I think they add excitement to the end of the season. However, I hate the fact that a team can have a fluky last few games and win it all. Or just a fluky game period. That does suck.

So I think the solution is to make the Supporter's Shield worth more to make teams want it bad, and that way there is added bonus to coming in first, and then you also go through the MLS cup.

What does suck is the amount of teams going to the playoffs next year. Ten is more than 50% of the league, and that's plain ridiculous. TOO MANY TEAMS. Only the elite should go, and there should be 1 table to avoid what happened this year with top West division teams playing one another.

My two cents.

Fair enough.

I don't like Play-offs in sport, I guess it's because I'm not used to it.

The Play-offs in the NFL seem to work well though.
