When the Cubs are right, they do this to people. I've seen a lot of it this year. Good discipline and pushing counts deep will do that.
Refusal to expand - Smoltz nailed it. He was a pretty good hitter for a pitcher. He's just a good athlete.

To be honest, this was expected once it came out that his deal had an opt-out after year one. He's looking to get a 5 year deal and since he's in his early 30s this is probably his best chance. This also explains the Jay Bruce signing which was a hedge in case Cespedes opted out.

Vowed many years ago that if the Cubs got to the World Series I would be in the streets outside Wrigley field joining in. I took a punt in 2008 and booked early in August but they went out the week or two before!!! Have to break that vow because Madame Allezlesbleus got a bit carried away and booked a week in Paris which I am still in!!!!! At airport in fact so will watch on TV. Hoping for a miracle and we do it with 3 wins on the run because I can't take too many more sleepless nights!!!! Come on Cubs and whatever happens let's show heart and spirit to the end. Personally I still believe!!!
That's what I figured. I'm not in Mr. Met's head, though. The Mets now are like the Cubs team with Wood and Prior. When your future is built on arms and nothing but, it's a nervous life. Reading about how your ace looked in "towel drills" in May is not a happy thing.
This mode of thinking might be part of Theo's drive to build the lineup within the system and buy/borrow/steal arms as needed. It's working so far, since Arrieta and Hendricks have both come good in ways we could not anticipate, and both really qualify as outright larceny.

Sad to say that I've followed the cavaliers since Lebron & the Indians since the beliveland documentary. They felt so Everton but yet I feel like a glory hunter right now.
